Jeffrey Lunden

Jeffrey Lunden, 70, passed away on October 31, 2023, in Benton City, WA.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife Glenna Lunden, daughters Amy Cooper and Emily Lunden, son Zachary Lunden, brothers Greg and Andrew Lunden, and sister Jenni McCoy.

Jeffrey is preceded in death by his parents C. David and Vauna Lunden and his first wife, Joyce Lunden.
Jeffrey Lunden was born on February 10, 1953 in San Diego, CA, to Clarence and Vauna Lunden.

Jeffrey graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way, WA in 1971 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Science from Washington State University in 1983. He started his career as an Agricultural Research technician and went on to work for WSU Research Station in Prosser, WA for 36 years. He also owned and operated his own beekeeping business for the better part of 40 years.
Jeffrey married Joyce Froese on June 30, 1979. The couple had 3 children, Amy Cooper, Emily Lunden, and Zachary Lunden. After his first wife’s death to cancer in 1999, he married Glenna Chute on May 24, 2008.

Jeffrey was best known for his love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He demonstrated this by faithfully living a life of integrity and quiet compassion both in his personal and professional life. He also loved creating and working on new projects with his family related to his farm and property out at Lake Quinault. He also loved camping, hunting, hiking, and fishing with his family and friends. He showed his love for others, especially his grandchildren, by teaching them the skills he had honed over the years, from knot tying to apiary custodianship to the anatomy of a carburetor.
Memorial donations can be made in Jeffrey’s name to Bible Truth Publishers, 59 W. Industrial Road, PO Box 649, Addison, IL 60101.

  • I am so sorry to hear that Jeff passed away almost a year ago now. I knew him in forest grade in 1959 and got to go to school with him in high school. He was a great guy, and I will miss him.

  • Heard this week (April 1, 2024) of Jeff’s untimely death. So sorry. Jeff supplied bees to my cherry orchard in Benton City from the 90’s through 2017. A good and steady man: considerate, calm, reliable, knowledgeable about farming. Easy and a pleasure to talk with. The community is diminished without him.

  • Like Dave, his Dad, Rich so enjoyed chatting with Jeff about just anything. Kind, knowledgeable, down to earth practical, non- political – and opening the scripture so you were lifted up.

We will continue to pray for you, dear Glenna, in your loss and the Londene family and your assembly too. The Lord draw you close and shelter you in His love .

  • I met Jeff in 1975 at the Badens farm in Spangle Washington where he was the hired hand. I followed Jeff around the whole summer and he was so patient and kind to me as a young person. I was saved that summer and still have the Bible he gave me. He wrote “Stew Babe-read this bible til you wear it out!” I will cherish the memories of time spent with Jeff and family. We are praying for Glenna and the kids during this difficult time of loss.

  • Dear Glenna and family. Carolyn and I wish to send our sympathy and share your grief with you in the sudden Home going of your dear husband, and the father of the children left behind. We remember the few short visits we had at your place when we visited our kids in Benton city perhaps 12 or 13 years ago. It was a pleasure to get to know Jeff and share our common thoughts of Christ. He will be sorely missed by all who were closely acquainted with him, in the assembly as well as one to one; but mostly by you and the family. May you find the Lord Jesus to be exceedingly close to each of you, for He understands your sorrow, and He cares! It won’t be very long before we will all be united around our blessed Saviour, where there will be no more parting, no more sorrow, no more disappointments! May we comfort one another with this thought, according to 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18.
With love in our Lord Jesus Christ, ’til He come

  • Jeff, my bee keeper and consultant on farm, orchard, and outdoor adventures, I am going to miss our shared conversations.

Jeff joined WSU on the bee research team, purchased Wyatt Cone’s bee business, and eventually became farm manager for the WSU experiment station. Running a bee pollination service while being responsible with the many facets of running the largest irrigated research station in the world is not for the faint of heart. Both long nights and long days piled together for weeks at a time. Jeff was always up to the challenge and a willing and efficient worker.

He provided bee hives for my little orchard for several years and a hive or two for our research on pollen transmission of plant viruses. In the dark of night, headlights and head lamps would magically appear in the orchard. In the morning, bees would slowly buzz about investigating their new surroundings. Hopefully, that was followed by some sunny and warm days, after which the headlights and headlamps would again appear and the bees disappear. He and his crew would then care for the bees and their hive families, awaiting the next delivery season.
Jeff, wish your head lamps would appear again for our conversations on topics of mutual interest. May the good Lord take great care of you and your family.

  • We lived a little over a mile from Jeff and his friendship and help over many years. He will be missed. We know he is with his Lord and Savior and singing the praises of the one that died for his salvation.
We look towards that day when we shall all be joined together in Glory to praise our Savior.

  • Dear Glenna and family,
Our hearts hurt for you as we think of the loss of Jeff! He was a good friend, a bright spot in a dark world, so very fun to be around. We think back many years to all the YP events, sings, and meals we all had together and we smile. God has been good to us!
Now, Jeff has been called to his heavenly home and we know he has entered his rest and we will see him again. We look forward to that day. Until then may you experience the peace that passes all understanding by looking to Jesus who loves us and lives to make intercession for us.

  • just one see you soon brother…

1Co 15:52  in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and *we* shall be changed.
1Co 15:53  For this corruptible must needs put on incorruptibility, and this mortal put on immortality.
1Co 15:54  But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruptibility, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the word written: Death has been swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55  Where, O death, is thy sting? where, O death, thy victory?
