Pone Panyanouvong

Pone was born in Savannakhet, Laos to Nonh and Pong Souriyavongsa and was married to Kheou Panyanouvong.

Pone Panyanouvong peacefully passed away in her home on October 6, 2023 with her beloved family at her bedside. She is remembered by her two sons, two sons-in-law, four daughters, and many grandchildren. Her days were filled with meditation, compassion, and a deep respect for everyone around her. Pone was an inspiration offering her family and friends endless love, empathy, and understanding.

In 1988, she arrived in Tri-Cities, WA accompanied by her husband, two daughters and one son as refugees. After her arrival she pursued her goal of attaining citizenship despite language barriers and cultural differences. As the matriarch of the family, she looked after her grandchildren so that her son and two daughters could pursue better lives.

She spent her downtime tending to her garden which consisted of bird’s eye chili peppers, cucumbers, and other various vegetables and herbs. She often shared these with everyone she could because this was her way of communicating her love.

As a devoted Buddhist and prominent member of the temple, she spent much of her time meditating and offering alms. You would often find her taking part in the many events which demonstrated her dedication to the Buddhism.

We find comfort that she is in a better place. May Buddha bless her soul.
