Sheryl Ann Self Kruse
Sheryl was born in Austin, Texas on November 18, 1958 to Bobby Dow Self and Anna Orlena Helge Self. She was the oldest of two children. Her family moved from Austin, TX. to Sulphur, LA. where she attended elementary and Jr. High school. She later moved to White Hall, AR. Where she attended and graduated from White Hall High School in 1977. She also attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello in Arkansas and Southwest Texas State University in Austin where she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1996. Sheryl spent a majority of her adult life as a single mother to her fur babies (they were her life), she had a very soft spot for dogs and cats (especially the ones that no one else wanted). She also had a passion for traveling and was able to experience trips to Africa, the UK, Egypt,
and many other places, too numerous to list. Sheryl’s career covered many different areas from a Funeral Home Administrative Assistant in Austin TX., a Police Officer for the city of Georgetown, TX., a high school teacher in Tomball TX., and also in Richland, WA. At the time of her passing she was working as a Purchasing Agent at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
Sheryl had a heart the size of Texas and a soft spot for anything/one needing help with anything. She was selfless in all ways imaginable, even when frustrated she found the positive side of things.
She is preceded in death by her father, B D Self in 1987 and her mother Orlena Self in 1993.
Surviving family members include husband Wayne Kruse whom she married in June of 2015, a brother Mike & wife Connie Self, a niece Jennifer & husband Phillip Ashcraft, 4 nephews Jason & wife Mallory Self, Mike & wife Stefany Self, Hunter Self and Austin Self. She is also survived by 7 great-nephews and 7 great-nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Sheryl, on November 11th, 2023 from 1:00 PM thru 4:00 PM at Sunset Gardens Event Center in Richland Washington. Always enjoyed talking to Sheryl about traveling. She had that travel bug.
Sheryl will be missed. She was so kind and helpful as well as funny. Her kindness helped me out when I was in need. I was privileged to help her out as well.
Sheryl and I were best friends, traveling companions, and sisters by heart for 30 years. I cherish every moment we spent together. She will always live on in my heart.
I was so very sorry to learn of Sheryl’s death. She was always so sweet and kind. She spent quite a lot of time with her grandmother and took such good care of her.

Sheryl was my sister and closest friends for 63 years, so glad we made so many great memories in that time. I will forever miss her but take comfort in knowing she is at peace with her life and is in a much better place.
Sheryl was a childhood friend from her days of living in Louisiana. Our families even vacationed together a few times. What wonderful memories of her friendship and those trips! May she rest in peace and may Our Father provide comfort for her family.
Honored to be a member of her family. What an amazing life she lived! We love Aunt Sheryl and will miss her immensely ❤️
I have no words. Heartbreaking 💔
