Herbert Davis

Herbert Davis, 83, a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, passed away on November 16th, 2023, in Kennewick, Washington.  Kent, as he was known by many, was born in October 1940 to Herbert E. and Georgia Davis.  Kent graduated from Kiona-Benton High School, where he met his future wife and Mother of his children, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Kent graduated Radioman “A” School at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, California, where he began his career in Telecommunications, and served as a Radioman aboard the USS Theodore E. Chandler. After Kent returned home from the military, he continued his education at Columbia Basin College, Wenatchee Valley College, and at GTE Service Corporation where he received an Associate Technical Degree. He continued his career in Telecommunications, serving many communities in the Pacific Northwest over the course of his 36-year career.  Kent had two children, both of which he was fiercely proud of and loved unconditionally, and a sister that he was extremely proud of and wanted to protect her as much as he could. When Kent was not working, you could find him spending time with family and friends; passionately supporting his children’s activities; riding motorcycles; reading books; watching football; boating; fishing; golfing; working out at the gym; helping his neighbors; and keeping up with the stock market. Kent was generally a quiet person, but when the right topic surfaced, he shared some great stories, advice, and the best memes. Kent was known for his contagious smile, soft heart, and being fiercely loyal to and protective of those close to him. When Kent passed away, he was a happily retired Network Operation Specialist-Data who had been in his words “enjoying the good life.”

Kent is survived by his daughter, Dana Davis; his sister, Constance Morse (Tom); extended family (Martin and Morse families); and friends.

Kent was preceded in death by his father, Herbert E. Davis; his mother, Georgia Davis; and his son, Robert Davis (known by many as Corey).

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, April 6th, at 12:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery. Evergreen Cemetery is located at E. Corral Creek Rd, Benton City, WA 99320.  After the graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life, beginning at approximately 1:30 PM, at The American Legion – Benton City.  The American Legion is located at 908 Dale Ave., Benton City, WA 99320. Friends and family are welcome to attend both activities.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Columbia Basin Dive Rescue and/or the Benton-Franklin Human Society.

  • Working with Kent was such a great joy to me. His laughter was contagious. That smile of his could light up a room. Personally I think his greatest accomplishment in life was being Dana and Corey’s dad. The fierce love he felt was so evident…he would be so puffed up with pride when he would talk about Dana… his memories of Corey…
    Rest in peace Kent. ❤️
