Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Hồng Thị Nguyễn, 73, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 in Seattle, Washington. She was in the presence of her husband, son, daughters, and all of her siblings.
Hồng was born in Đà Lạt, Việt Nam in 1950 and was a child among nine brothers and sisters. She immigrated to the United States in 1975 with her husband and six month old daughter. She went to college in upstate New York and eventually she became an Autocad drafter and worked at an engineering company where she eventually retired in Seattle. Over the 48 years in the United States she lived in New York, California, and Washington with her three children. During this time she and her husband helped sponsor many family members to come to the US to start a new life and have the same opportunities as they did.
Hồng had many hobbies that included cooking, baking, traveling and exploring, reading, visiting with her many friends, sewing, and cultivating a beautiful yard and gardening inside and outside the home. She had a zest for life learning new things and exploring new places. Her greatest joy was her five grandchildren and would do anything for them. She had a witty sense of humor and contagious laugh that would brighten a room she was in. She loved hosting dinner parties for her family and friends. Hồng was the type of person who was very empathetic and always thought about others before herself. Hồng was a very strong willed person and had a strong sense of justice for what is right and wrong. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was always there when others needed her.
Hồng is survived by her husband of 50 years Nguyễn Công Chương, daughter Nguyễn Linh-Giang (son-in-law Trần Hữu Thọ, grandson Nathan Trần, granddaughter Natalie Trần), daughter Carolyn Nguyễn Cramer (son-in-law Nicholas Oliver Cramer, granddaughter Lucy Linh Cramer, grandson Isaac Nguyễn Cramer), and son Alan Đinh Nguyễn (daughter-in-law Julie Moon and granddaughter Astrid Moon Nguyễn).
Hồng is also survived by her brothers Đinh Gia Lập and Đinh Gia Lành, and sisters Đinh Thị Hiền, Đinh Thị Thu Hằng, Đinh Thị Thu Hạnh, Đinh Thị Như Linh, Đinh Thị Thu Thủy, and Đinh Thị Thái Thanh. Hồng is preceded in death by her father Đinh Hải and mother Tống Thị Hoa.
She also is survived by her husband’s siblings. Sister-in-law: Nguyễn Thị Phán, Nguyễn Thị Hằng (Hà), Nguyễn Thị Sàng, Nguyễn Thị Thoại. There are also her brother-in-laws: Nguyễn Công Thắng, Nguyễn Công Châu, Nguyễn Văn Trứ.
Memorial donations can be made in Hồng’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer Society. (https://www.lls.org/)
