Sherrel Hinton

Sherrel Hinton passed away Friday November 17th, 2023 at home in Richland, Washington. We celebrate his 67 years of life.

Sherrel was born in Ogden, Utah on August 31st, 1956 to Halvor Waddoups Hinton and Audrey Joan Averett. Sherrel’s childhood took place in Cody, Wyoming and Fillmore, Utah. He was close to his Grandma and Grandpa Moyes who had a powerful impact on him when he went to live with them. He attended Millard High School and worked for the McBride Lumber Company in Fillmore.In 1977 he made his home in Washington State. He worked as a carpenter, janitor, and business owner, before eventually finding his passion in the culinary arts. He especially enjoyed his time cooking and fostering close relationships with the residents that were special to him at Hawthorn Court in Kennewick, Washington. He was known for his sense of humor and strong work ethic. Sherrel loved his family, pets, plants, and working on “Betsy,” his ‘55 Chevy. He had a passion for restoring antiques. He enjoyed talking with God while walking his dogs along Bateman Island where the rock hound in him contributed to his large collection of heart shaped rocks.

Sherrel is survived by his Stepmother Jeri Hinton; 7 brothers/step-brothers Hal Bischoff (Marilyn), Jeff Hinton (Dianne), Kim Bischoff (Sue), Michael Carter, Jay Bodily (Tammy), Paul Foster, and Bill Foster; 3 Sisters/step-sisters Nedra Carter, Connie Sandbak (Paul),and Karen Hinton; and his 4 sons Joe Hinton (Rachel), Jon Hinton (Shannon), Mike Hinton (Gina), and Matt Hinton, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sherrel was preceded in death by his Mother (Audrey), Father (Halvor), and Stepmother (Delma); and 2 Sisters/step-sisters Anne Bischoff and Marcella Carter.

A funeral service will be held at the Fillmore Armory, 35 West Center Street, Fillmore, Utah on December 9, 2023 at 12pm, with graveside service immediately following
