Christa Elisabeth Powell

Christa Powell went home to her Lord peacefully on December 22, 2023, at
the age of 82 in Richland, WA.
Christa was born May 6th, 1941, in Giessen-Lahn, Germany to Helene and
Wilhelm Krahnast. Wilhem was killed in Luxemburg in 1945, when she was
just 4 years old. Helene then married Alfred Goebel in 1954, in Giessen-Lahn,
Germany, and Christa spent her youth and young adult years in Europe.
April 28, 1962, Christa married Jerry C. Romine, and they would have five
children together, and divorced in 1981. She would then marry the love of
her life, James E. Powell, September 3rd, 1982. They would remain married
for over 30 years, until James passed away in 2018.
During her life, Christa loved her children endlessly. She started her own
business, Embroidery by Christa. She grew a wonderful, world class
garden, and genuinely enjoyed the beautiful bounty of flowers that grew.
Christa was a generous and kind woman with remarkable empathy for
those that feel marginalized and the homeless. She would feed the
homeless with a humble heart and help anyone she could.
She is survived by her children, Sheri McWherter, George Romine, Rita
Romine, Rene Nicks, and Sean Romine, several grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded by her Father, Mother, Stepfather, and her Husband,
James.
Christa’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Event Center, with Einan’s
at Sunset Gardens on Wednesday, January 3rd at 1pm; followed by the
Inurnment at the Veterans Plaza
