Laura Lee Hetrick

Our mom, Laura Lee Hetrick, went to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 22,2024. She is now free of all pain and suffering and spending time with the ones that have passed before her.

Laura was born on October 18,1949 to Leonard Robert and Lida Mary Bellman in Spokane Washington.

Laura came to know the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior as a child thanks in part to the faithful witness of her older sister Mary, who had accepted Christ and faithfully walked her two younger sisters to church where they heard about Jesus.

Laura went to Eastern Washington State College where she received her teaching degree. She began teaching in Florida until the time that she got married. At that point she came back to Spokane where she married DeWayne L.Hetrick of Richland on June 8,1974, DeWayne was in the Military which led to Laura teaching in Hawaii and Georgia before moving back to settle down in Washington State where she taught at Liberty Christian in Richland and various school districts around the Tri Cities area. Laura lived in the small town of Burbank for over 40 years.

In spite of working more than full time hours at the Tri City Herald as a District Manager, Laura always prioritized showing children the love of Jesus though many different ministries. Some of those Ministries were being a Sunday school Teacher at First Baptist of Burbank where she had attended faithfully for 44 years, Vacation Bible School, CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship), 5 Day Clubs, Face Painting at the Fair to tell the Gospel, BackYard Bible Camps, working in the kitchen and as a Counselor for Bible camp at Camp Wooten, Good News Club, CYA (Christian Youth in Action) these are just some of the many countless things Laura did to make sure that children heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Laura was preceded in death by her Husband DeWayne Hetrick, her Father and Mother Leonard Robert and Lida Mary Bellman, her older Sister and Brother-in-law Mary and Chuck Perry. The people here on earth waiting to see her again in Heaven are her Sons DeWayne (Ryan), Brian (Lacey), Grandson Landon, Sister Isla (Greg) and many Nieces and Nephews.

The family would like to thank Hawthorne Court for caring so well for all your residents, including our mother. We would also like to thank everyone at Chaplaincy Hospice for all the care and extra special attention you gave mom.

A Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Burbank, 723 W Humorist Rd, at 11 a.m. on January 27,2024. All who knew Laura are welcome to join us. A private burial will be held at a later time at Sunset Gardens in Richland.

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to CEF or to First Baptist Church of Burbank.

  • My sweet sweet friend, I learned so much from Laura. What a great times we had together. It was a privilege to bring her to church on Sundays. To watch her with her very good friend Bill. When I started picking up Bill , their conversations were fun to listen too. I will miss Laura for sure.
