Celebration of Life
Ruben Ortega
Ruben Ortega, 67, passed away on February 28, 2024, in Seattle Washington surrounded by his family. Ruben, (“Papi” or “Rubencito” as he was known to his close friends and family), was born on March 12,1956 in Lima Peru to Sosimo Ortega and Juana Gonzales. Ruben immigrated to the United States when he was 28 years old and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University and a master’s degree from Western Washington University. He started his career in social work and went on to work as a case manager for Southeastern Washington Aging and Long Term Care for 26 years. Ruben is survived by his two daughters, Jemima Crosby and Janelle Ortega-Lieb and his grandchildren, Aaron Lee Crosby, Madison Janelle Crosby and Cristian Micheal Mathews. Ruben is best known for his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and soccer (specifically German soccer).
Ruben had a heart of gold and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
During the many years that he and I worked together, I appreciated his dedication, hard work and caring attitude. We all appreciated his great sense of humor and often make reference to his silly sayings.
I will keep Ruben’s family in my thoughts and prayers as they go thru this terrible loss. Virginia
