Fred Jensen
Fred A. Jensen of Richland, WA passed away on March 20th at his home in Richland, WA. Born in San Diego, CA on April 30, 1952, to Harold and Joan Jensen, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.
After several moves growing up with his family, Fred settled in Redlands, CA. In 1972 he joined the Navy submarine service and served on several vessels in both Atlantic and Pacific locations.
Fred loved the Navy despite the many months away from home that the job demanded. He received superb training as a nuclear reactor operator, and upon leaving the Navy in 1980 found himself in demand at nuclear facilities around the country. Stints in California, New York, Texas, and Colorado followed, finally settling in Washington state.
Fred married his current wife Nancy in 2004, and he continued to work for many years at the DOE Hanford, WA Site, finally retiring in 2023. Fred loved his country and the Tri-Cities very much. He loved to play golf and was a member of Meadow Springs Golf Club in Richland, WA. Fred and Nancy enjoyed travelling to Poulsbo, WA., where they liked to vacation as well as exploring the region along the way.
Fred is survived by his wife Nancy of Richland, three daughters from previous marriages; Angela, Ruth, Molly and their families, three brothers; Mike, Steve, Jim and a stepson and family.
He will be forever remembered as an attentive husband, a devoted brother, a wonderful son, a loyal friend, and a patriotic American.
Services will be private, and charitable contributions to organizations addressing depression are encouraged.
