Paul Richard Peterson

Paul Richard Peterson – Beloved friend, father & grandfather to many – passed away at home on April 27th, 2024 at the age of 73 surrounded by loved ones.

“Rick” was the oldest of 3 children born to the late Paul Sr. and Mary Peterson on May 4, 1950. He spent his early years living in Spokane, Washington where he graduated from Shadle Park High School. At the age of 20, Rick enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Aircraft Electrician and TV & Radio Production Specialist. After four years served and an honorable character of service, Rick went on to utilize his skills as an electrician and retired as a Chief Operator at Priest Rapids Dam after a career of 27 years.

In 1992, Rick met his surviving wife, Terrie, whom he was married to for 28 years. Together, they raised their blended family of children and grandchildren. He was a devoted spouse and parent, always putting his family first and cherishing every moment spent with them.

In his free time, Rick loved going camping with his family, often staying close to home and enjoying the Columbia and Snake Rivers. He had a strong passion for fitness, completing various annual runs and could be found jogging around his neighborhood early in the morning. The hobby he is most known for was his passion for music. Rick had a dedicated “music room” where he showcased his vast collection of guitars, CD’s & cassette tapes, Elvis Presley knick-knacks and various other instruments. He could always be found humming a good tune and tuning a guitar, while sipping a glass of red wine. Rick was also deeply committed to the welfare of animals, often asking for donations in his name to the local Humane Society in lieu of gifts on special occasions.

Rick was known for his ability to bring humor to every situation, love for music, and his dedication to his family. He was a beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.

  • I know everyone always says they have the best dad or grandpa in the world, but we really did. The love and care my grandfather had for myself and others was unwavering, and he made a friend wherever he went. He was patient, intelligent, creative & kind.

A million thank-you’s would not be enough. I’ll forever cherish the memories we made together and I pray we see each other again someday. Love you!

  • I’ll always remember him sitting in his chair, sipping on red wine and humming. Always a dog in his lap of course. Beautiful obituary and tribute to him. ❤️
