Celebration Of Life
Douglas Culver
Doug Culver, a valued member of the Tri-Cities, Washington community, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 8, at the age of 75. Doug leaves behind his beloved wife, Debbie, with whom he shared 50 golden years of marriage. His legacy lives on through his four children and their partners: Amy Page (Travis), Luke (Kelly), Benjamin (Jennifer), and Ivan (Maya), along with six sweet grandchildren. Doug is survived by his siblings Daniel (Charlene), David (Angie), and Carus, his in-laws, extended family, and the hundreds of fellow Jehovah’s Witnesses he served within the region, whom he considered spiritual brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by his father David, mother Margaret, and granddaughter Katelyn.
Doug was a man of many talents, with a particular passion for building and creating. He dedicated over 45 years of his life to the construction and maintenance of nuclear plants including the Fast Flux Test Facility for Bechtel and the Columbia Generating Station for Energy Northwest. After the Fukushima accident in Japan, he consulted with the NRC on plant-specific safety improvements and contributed to the construction of these enhancements at multiple nuclear plants across the country. One of Doug’s favorite projects was managing the construction of the VeraSun Energy ethanol plant in Hartley, Iowa from the ground up.
Doug’s innovative spirit never waned. At the time of his death, he was collaborating with his son Ivan on several projects including the design of a large-scale 3D printer, a single-person quadcopter, and a revolutionary construction rigging device. Doug’s brilliant mind, boundless optimism, infectious enthusiasm, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Doug’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1979 and served his God, Jehovah, with unwavering devotion. Doug and Debbie taught their children this faith. Doug volunteered to serve multiple times at the JW Bethel World Headquarters in New York, and contributed his engineering and construction skills on many Kingdom Hall projects in the Pacific Northwest. His children worked alongside him on many of the same projects. Donations to this work can be made by visiting donate.jw.org.
A celebration of Doug’s remarkable life will be held at Einan’s Sunset Gardens Event Center in Richland on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Doors will open at 1:00 pm, with the service commencing at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception with refreshments
My heart goes out to you all! Doug was very loved and cherished by many! His life continues through us and all and more importantly Jehovah! We will all see him again very soon!
I am sorry to hear that Doug has passed. I worked with him for years at Energy Northwest and always enjoyed and respected him. I will never forget his smile, his laugh, and his energy.
To all the family Death of a lived one is such a hard thing but we are so fortunate to know it’s not the end. Soon we will see Doug’s smiling face again. Us all in perfect health. Love to you all! Laurel ❤️

Br Doug Culver is sleeping in death to us, yet because of the many treasures in heaven he has stored up during his lifetime here on earth, it is a surety that he is recorded in Jehovah’s book of life and remembered by Him. It is reassuring to us to have the absolutt certainty that to Jehovah, Br Culver is still alive…

So very sad to hear of Doug’s passing. Have fond memories of Doug and his family🧡Look forward to seeing Doug again with full youthful vigor. ….much love and prayers for all in the family🧡
What a great friend Doug was to me. On the first quick build in Pasco Doug held my hand and walked me through the project after an accident of our chairman on the project elevated me to that assignment. Doug continued reassuring me that Jehovah would help me through the project. He kept saying to me “ you will see Jehovah’s hand on this”, I did and Doug was right there with me throughout the project. On the last day as we completed the quick build Doug could see I was overcome with emotion. He took me to the rear of the hall where we had built a storage room. He took me inside and stood guard and let me cry my eyes out in privacy. He was right, I did see Jehovah’ hand. Not only by the hard work of the brothers blessed by Jehovah or the way all obstacles to the project vanished. I saw Jehovahs spirit active on my dear friend Doug. He guided us all, especially me, as he tirelessly worked to Jehovahs praise. I’ll be so very happy to hug my friend when Jehovah awakens him very soon.
Our hearts are with you all. May Jehovah bring you comfort in this time. Much love the Housdens
I am saddened to hear of the loss of Doug! 1 Cor 15;26 calls Death our “Enemy” and it certainly is, but the Resurrection promise at John 5:28 will bring that enemy to its end. That promise can help you endure the future days, (My experience) You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and Hugs to The Whole Culver Family,
So sorry to loose Doug. He was a pillar. We will be there’ God willing’ to welcome you back when those asleep in the dust of the earth wake up. (Dan 12:2). Love to all family and friends
Nothing but fond memories of Doug and his family. Doug’s sons are some of the kindest men I’ve known, a testament to the kind of husband and father he was and the example he set. My families thoughts and love are with the the Culver family.
