Dylan Kerby Goolsby

Dylan K. Goolsby was born 20th of May 1999 in Richland, Washington. He enjoyed snowboarding, ATVing, camping, swimming and bicycling. Always telling a joke or a prank, Dylan enjoyed laughter and making people laugh. He lived in Richland until his sophomore year at Richland High School. He spent his junior year in Los Alamos attending high school and enjoyed being part of the MTB (bike) club and the auto mechanic program. He spent his high school summers with his Aunt GayLynn, Uncle Ken and cousins Kolby & Kacie, helping at the Clyde farm in Moscow, Idaho. It was there that Dylan developed his interest in working with his hands and his love of tools. Dylan thrived on working and spending time with his extended family. So much so, that he asked to spend his senior year of high school in Moscow. Dylan graduated from Moscow High in 2018. After highschool with the help of his aunt and uncle, Dylan began an apprenticeship to be an electrician. He worked at Strom Electric, completed his course work at Lewis-Clark College in Lewiston, Idaho. Dylan supported himself while working his apprenticeship, began his collection of tools of the trade, and tried his hand at being an entrepreneur. He loved getting new tools and every trip to the hardware store seemed to see him with a new tool or two. In 2022, Dylan moved back to Richland and worked at Total Energy Management. Dylan passed on too soon. He is survived by mother Janae Michel and Dan Vaughn, father Grant Goolsby and Krista Corbin, Rachel (sister), Devan & Mason Smith, (step-siblings) Kody Bishoprick, Payton Galioto, LJ Scott, Jasper, & Sadie, and Anthony Galioto, (extended family) Gaylynn, Ken, Kolby & Kacie Clyde. Grandparents Evelyn Michel and O.K. Goolsby. As well as numerous aunts and uncles.

He is loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

  • Epitaph by Merrit Malloy
    When I die
Give what’s left of me away
    To children
And old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
    Cry for your brother
    Walking the street beside you.
    And when you need me,
    Put your arms
    Around anyone
    And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
    Something better
    Than words
    Or sounds.

    Look for me
    In the people I’ve known
    Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
    And not your mind.

    You can love me most
    By letting
    Hands touch hands,
    By letting bodies touch bodies,
    And by letting go
    Of children
    That need to be free.

    Love doesn’t die,
    People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
    Is love,
    Give me away.
