Timothy Lawrence Fontaine
Timothy Fontaine (Tim) was born in Fargo, ND to James Fontaine and Jane Spoor. He spent his early years in East Grand Fork, ND until his family moved to Yakima, WA in 1951. He graduated from Yakima Central High School in 1963, where he excelled in playing football.
After high school, Tim enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard in the “Buddy System” with Larry Huck; but after boot camp they were no longer stationed in the same place. Tim spent a year in Alaska on Cape Spencer Lighthouse Station and was in his glory living on the water and able to fish and hunt.
Tim loved his family and was a great dad and husband. He followed his kids and grandkids throughout their sports and even jogged with the girls to stay in shape. He enjoyed working on cars with Christopher, his grandson. He loved outdoors fishing and hunting; He hunted with his friend Roy Gotham and fished with Bob Garvin. Tim also enjoyed playing a round of golf with his classmates.
He thoroughly enjoyed attending our 60th class reunion last September and reminiscing “old” times, especially football with the guys.
He is survived there by his wife Maryalice of 55 years, three children Christina Sanger (Vancouver), Teresa Fontaine (Richland), and James Fontaine (Wenatchee), five grandchildren Christopher Sanger (Miranda), Breanna Sanger, Tiffany Hernandez (Victor), Baylee Espinoza (Alex) Payton, eight great grandchildren Carson, Tucker, Alexander, Aaron James (AJ), Adriana, Paxtyn, Piper, and Andres. His sisters Suzanne Davis, Marylynn Sauve, sister-in-law Jan Fontaine and brother-in-law Msgr. Perron Auvẻ and his pet, Molly. Both Tim’s parents and brother Michael preceded him in death.
He loved playing with all his grandkids, attending their sports and most recently watching Alexander play baseball.
Tim was a member of Christ the King in Richland and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a past Navigator for the Fourth Degree and managed the Columbus Club for 10 years.
We want to take this time to thank Northcare Memory Care for the wonderful care they gave Tim during his stay and Heartlinks for his hospice care. Finally, to Tim’s long-time physician who was there for him 24/7, Thanks Dr. Julie Raekes.
