Celebration of Life
Shane “Mac” McCullough
July 25, 1969 – June 26, 2024
Shane Alan McCullough, known by many as “Mac,” left us on June 26, 2024, at the age of 54. Shane was born on July 25, 1969 in Moses Lake, WA. His family moved to Indiana for a few years, but Mac spent his younger years in Renton, WA. After marrying, Mac, Stacy and their boys moved to Texas, which he would say was the best decision for them. It was a time to build a solid foundation of trust and communication as they only knew one person in Texas. The McCullough family moved to the Tri-Cities in 2008.
Shane is survived by his beloved wife, Stacy McCullough; his cherished sons, Drew and Rhet McCullough; his loving mother, Karen McCullough; his devoted brother, Travis McCullough; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan McCullough. Shane was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Shane dedicated over 24 years of his life to his career, working within commercial and federal contracting. His professionalism and expertise earned him respect and admiration in his field. Mac was able to see the end result of the work to be done. Because of this, and his keen eye for detail, he was recognized as a subject matter expert within project execution and performance. He successfully managed local, regional and national programs for the government and commercial market sectors.
Whether it was softball, basketball, golf, or riding, Shane’s love for sports and the outdoors was evident throughout his life. His competitive nature and love for a team helped him excel in college basketball. His best friends and memories come from his deep passion for softball, traveling extensively with his teammates and achieving success as part of many World and National Championship teams. His commitment to the sport earned him a place in the USSSA Washington Softball Hall of Fame, reflecting his skill and dedication. He spent MANY hours on the golf course perfecting his craft of conversation and “just catching up” as this was always more important than his golf game.
Shane was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth and kindness. Shane’s memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to inspire us.
A memorial service to celebrate Shane’s life will be held on Thursday, July 11 at Einan’s Sunset Funeral Home at 1:00 with a reception celebration at Meadow Spring Country Club from 2:00-5:00.
Please join us in remembering, celebrating and sharing Shane or as many know him by Mac, Macdaddy, Mac 22.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shane’s memory to Tri-City Cancer Center.
Dear McCullough family,
As I learned of the news of your beloved Shane. Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences Ms. McCullough. I recall meeting this giant of a man when Stacy worked as a kindergarten teacher at Carver Elementary School. It was obvious this family had a strong connection to their love for one another and to their sports.
Shane’s great sense of humor always brought smiles to everyone. I loved watching him with Stacy and his boys. This strong family unit will certainly allow his boys to carry on his deep love for family as they grow up to their own one day.
Stacy, we love you and know that you are being the ROCK that your two boys are in need of. Craig and I wish you peace, comfort, courage and the strength you need in this time of sorrow.
Blessings,
P. Reyna Henry
I was deeply saddened to learn of the news regarding the loss of Mac. My condolences go out to those who were close to him. I have fond memories of our time together, as we lived on the same street during our childhood. Shane always treated me with kindness, and I particularly remember an occasion where he graciously allowed me to win a few games of pool. May he rest easy. Condolences from the Dallmann Family
Shane, I will always remember your special smile and your love for your family and friends as it came through when ever we talked. You will be forever in my heart. Give my big brother another hug. Love, Aunt Sharon
Shane,
What a great person and father.. Great memories at GHC…
We had the privilege of getting to know Shane, Stacey, Drew and Rhett during their time here in Texas. I met Mac when our boys signed up for T-ball in kindergarten and got to know him and the family better over countless hours at the ballfields over the next five years. We began as parents on the same team, but became good friends as you can’t help being drawn in to Shane’s personality and caring nature for others. Most around here may remember him as the guy that could hit a softball a mile, but those of us that were lucky enough to get to know him more personally remember an outstanding coach and mentor to our kids, a wonderful father to his boys, a husband who loved and respected Stacy and a loyal friend who would do anything for you. He certainly leaves behind a legacy of love and respect and although he has been gone from Texas for many years, his impact remains strong in my life and I am going to miss him terribly. Drew and Rhett…your dad was the real deal and a man that we can all hope to emulate in our own short time on this rock. I was lucky enough to see him just a few weeks ago and man was he proud of you guys. And yes…he could hit a softball a mile.
Prayers for strength and comfort during your difficult time and peace knowing that Shane is in perfect condition and in a perfect place. We will miss him.
Clay and Marla
