Gregory Woodall

Gregory R. Woodall, born August 23, 1957, in Yakima, WA, went to be with Jesus on July 21, 2024, in Richland, WA, surrounded by his family and love.

Greg grew up in Yakima, where he graduated from Moxee High School and played the bass drum in the school band. He proudly served in the Coast Guard as a Bouytender on the Puget Sound.

A passionate fisherman, Greg delighted in cooking for others and enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Cici.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Carol Woodall; his children, Benjamin Woodall (Mandi), Cara Hewitt, and Joshua Bush (Danielle); his brother Alan Woodall (Sharon); his sister Keri Woodall; and his grandchildren Trystan, Mykala, Anastasia, Genevieve, Desi, Chevelle, and Benson, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Kevin Woodall.

He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his generosity in the kitchen, and his passion for fishing. Known as a “jack of all trades” and a master of none, he was also the king of dad jokes: “How do you get down off an elephant? You don’t. You get down off a duck.” and “Does your face hurt? Because it’s killing me.” He thought he was funny, and we humored him.

Gregory’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

  • I loved my huband, Greg.

As i go through all my journals that i wrote while we were married which are full of good times and not so good (as in every marriage),
I focus on the good. Greg was a generous man and very funny to me.
I always laughed at his bad jokes, that was my favorite quality about him.

Even during financial hardships he always made every holiday very special as if we were rich!

He loved big family gatherings and didn’t mind waiting hours to hold our place at a picnic table at the park for our family 4th of July gatherings every year. He loved to cook for family reunions and everyone loved his special Boklavah and he would make it for anyone who wanted a personal dish of it for themselves.

He was a wonderful dad and silly when the children were little. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and always made himself available, especially in case they wanted to go fishing.

His son, Benjamin and daughter, Cara stayed with him until he took his last breath, as I watched how them say their goodbyes. They know they will see their Dad again since he confessed his belief in Jesus and his salvation.

Until then, Greg, you will be missed.

    Sincerely, your (X) wife, Carol
