Celebration of Life
Kyle S. Webster
Kyle Steven Webster, 73, of Kennewick, Washington passed away on July 30, 2024 from complications of Parkinsons.
He was born in Brewster, Washington in 1951 to parents Frank and Mary Webster. He was one of the many children that grew and played together in that small town neighborhood and was always known for his spirit and playfulness.
Kyle will always be remembered for his dry humor, looking for fun, living simply, and his drive to reach out to others and serve them, showing his warm heart.
Kyle attended Brewster Elementary School until 8th grade. He then attended Mater Cleri Seminary for 1 ½ years. He finished his high school education at Brewster High School and graduated in 1969. Kyle was a regular worker in the apple orchards throughout high school years, pruning, thinning and picking apples.
Soon after graduation he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served for 4 years as a Radioman 2nd class. He trained in New York City and was then stationed in the Philippines; Westport, Washington; Adak, Alaska and S. Portland, Maine. He set up a radio at home, and spent many hours with Morse Code conversations. He could ‘dit-dit-dit, dah-dah-dah, dit-dit-dit with the best of them, his fingers flying!
Honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, Kyle bought an orange Fiat convertible and donned his leather jacket and cap, driving home with his music always turned up loud; He loved that car! He then spent some time working and saving money for college at a sawmill in Omak, Washington.
A college education was an important goal for Kyle. He attended Central Washington University and graduated with degrees in Mathematics and Economics. He tutored students in Math there for a little extra spending money.
As he said, “my first real job” was at Westinghouse Hanford in Richland, Washington as a Quality Assurance Engineer. He then worked for Battelle for many years also in Quality Assurance as well as a Hazardous Materials Shipping Operation Specialist. He spent the next few years with contract work with several other companies prior to his retirement in 2015.
Kyle liked the outdoors; He loved the Oregon Coast and beach walking, as it was a yearly vacation spot with Debra. He shared fishing with many friends and even paddled around in his float tube with flippers. He camped with family and friends in tent and trailers and enjoyed the yearly Webster Reunion in the mountains. He was a soccer coach, hockey fan, aerobics enthusiast, snow skier, golfer, piano player, fan of his sons and grandsons’ events as well as a Friend of Bill W.
Kyle married Debra Taber in 1975. This was a real ‘the girl next door’ for Kyle as Deb’s family, Corky and Mary Lou Taber moved across the street from the Webster family when Deb was 3 years old. This led to a lifetime of connection and fun, so when Kyle and Deb fell in love years later it was like a continuation of that friendship. They celebrated 49 married years together.
Kyle and Debra raised two sons, Benjamin and Andrew. Kyle called Benjamin his ‘Bicentennial Baby’ (born in 1976) and Andrew his ‘Mt. St. Helens Baby’ (born in 1981). Kyle was so proud of his boys and loved them with all his heart. He rejoiced in all stages of their lives!
Kyle had a loving relationship with his in-laws Corky and Mary Lou Taber.
His trials with Parkinsons Disease and Parkinsons Dementia was a 6-year battle and he endured it with grace. With steps forward and steps backward he was always looking to “find something to do”.
Preceding Kyle’s death was his father, George Franklin Webster; his mother, Mary Elaine Webster (Schaller); brother Ron and brother Wynn (Chris Webster).
Kyle is survived by his wife, Debra, son Benjamin (Melanie), son Andrew (Lindsay) and 4 grandsons; Jonah, Landen, Owen and Travis. He is also survived by brother Jim Webster (Chuan-Chuan), sister Laura Lee Brownton (Mark), brother Dan Webster (Kim), sister Fran Obermeyer (Mike), sister Patty Cornett (Mark), sister Gen Isensee (Mike) as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

What a remarkable man, I’d only wished I’d met Kyle years ago! I only knew him since May of 2023, he was my neighbor. I’d recently had open heart surgery & was required to walk as part of my rehab. Ironically, we met by fate, as he was he was out walking in our neighborhood. We’d frequently cross paths in the months to follow & share brief stories & some laughs. His infectious humor and personality was magnetic, always leaving me with a smile and thinking, what an awesome guy! He introduced me to his family & treated me with the utmost respect. Though I knew, Kyle’s battle with Parkinson’s was getting increasingly tougher, he still maintained his sense of humor and love for life. His passing left me stunned & I felt a sense of emptiness and sadness. Sadness only because I will miss seeing my new found friend walking past my house, always, taking the time to talk & laugh! For only knowing Kyle for a little over a year, he’s left an indelible impression on me & inspired me to a better man. Tho I’m saddened he’s no longer with us, I’m happy for him, knowing he’s at peace! My deepest thoughts & prayers to Deb & his family. I wish you the best & pray for the emptiness in your hearts.
Debbie, Ben and Andy I am so very sorry for your loss. May God give you peace and strength.
Debbie and Family – As you know, Kyle and I got reacquainted the end of last year when we were both at the same rehab center here in Kennewick. He was just across the hall and down a door from me. I had only been there a day or two when I saw this guy go past my door in a wheelchair. I immediately knew it was him – he hadn’t changed a bit! We frequently sat side by side in our wheelchairs and visited during events held at the center. Of course we talked about old times in our neighborhood and he told me about his family and work. Visited with Debby too and even saw Corky one day! My brother Mike and his wife Ann stopped by to visit with me and I said that Kyle was just down the hall, so he went to say “hi”. They visited each time they came to visit me. I want you to know that Kyle made my stay there a little bit better! I’m so sorry for your loss.
My dear brother Kyle,
I’m so glad I still have a saved voice message from one of the times I missed your call. I will keep it forever! We talked after that about basketball and golf and the day…
When you signed off, you said “okay, well I’m going to do the next right thing” …
I think that’s good advice for us
all to live by!
I will always be grateful that you are my brother❤️
Kyle was one of the nicest, kindest, hometown friends that I knew from Brewster. Praying for comfort for Deb and the rest of the family!!❤️ ❤️ 🙏
Both Kyle and Deb were neighbors up to 5 th grade. Or neighbor hood was like the Our Gang of little rascals on tv. So many memories of Kyle and the gang. My deepest sympathies to all the family members for your loss.
You have left so many of us with fun and loving memories. Your smile greeted us as we entered the Webster home. You are loved deeply and will be missed by many. Prayers for the Webster family as they navigate the journey of grief.
I was so excited to see Kyle’s face pop up on my cell this morning.
I hadn’t see him since we were kids.
Then instantly became sad to see he’d passed.
We spent a lot of the together since we were in same grade and attended same church as young grade schoolers.
I enjoyed reading about his beautiful life.
My thought are with his family.

You are loved and will be missed by many. RIP my freind.
A great guy with a kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. You’ll be missed. Rest easy my friend❤️
Oh Debbie- and all you Websters! I’m so sorry to hear this news… Praying for you all because of this significant loss and change in your lives…. I can “see” Kyle in my memory… that HS upperclassman… his joking and smile…. Loving you all from Brewster
Fond memories of Kyle and Deb. Great guy with a big heart and wonderful sense of humor.
You are a one in a million brother. I will really miss our visits and laughter together.
Forever in my heart.❤️
I spent ages three to six living next door to Debbie (we shared a sandbox…and so did a cat!) and across the street from Kyle and his wonderful big family. The house smelled like baking bread and pies. Who knew those little kids would end up creating their own happy family!
My heart aches for you Debbie, and I trust your best memories and family and friends will comfort you. And to the Webster siblings, bless you all. (Even Laura Lee who would get us in trouble for going into Mrs. Goehry’s yard!)
I am so saddened to hear of Kyle’s passing. We crossed paths a couple months ago and I had the pleasure of meeting his wife Debra. My deepest condolences.
