Todd Vincent Elliott
Todd Vincent Elliott was born on December 4th, 1968 in Richland Washington and passed away on July 20th, 2024. Todd was the son of Judie Heid Elliott and Ron Johnson. He was adopted by Jon Elliott and raised by Jon and Judie together. He was the brother of Kelly Elliott and Jessica Jones. He was an uncle to Jason Elliott, Colton Jones and Savannah Jones.
Todd’s knowledge of computers and electronics was vast – he invented, designed, and built several devices. The latest of these was a highly praised portable P25 scanning, digital radio system. Todd also had a musically creative side – he mastered any instrument he chose, especially the guitar.
Todd was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
I knew Todd through his radio inventions. His intelligence shone brighter than the sun. He will be missed greatly.

I am so sorry to hear of this news and my condolences to his family. I never met Todd but I have always considered him a genius and also a friend after purchasing his P25RX radio scanner and then communicating with him online for occasional support or in the forums. He seemed like a very personable gentleman and was very invested in his products as well as his customers. Rest in peace and know that there are a lot of folks who miss you in some capacity.
Todd, we never met but I was one of your first BlueTail P25 RX customers. You inspired many with your “roll your own” product that is still superior to commercial stuff on the market. Your passion was the product and it showed. You were always quick to respond to anyone day or night. I use your work extensively supporting my P25 trunked radio system here in Fulton County, GA.
I am sorry I never got to chance to know you better, or be here to listen to you the way you listened to us. I know you are now at peace, in an eternal land of love, blue skies, and strong signals. Thank you for all you did for everyone around you. While you left this world too soon, you did leave it a better place. Rest in peace.
Todd’s radio designs are revolutionary, they allowed people who normally wouldn’t be able to afford such devices a way to join in on theP25 scanner market. His attention to detail and service to customers were top-class. Albeit most of us strangers, he made the group of users who had his proprietary devices feel like a close-knit group. Oftentimes feedback we gave him for improving the devices was directly implemented, we felt ownership in the product and worked to make them better. Todd’s expertise and skill with electronics were world class, and can never be replaced.
I might have met Todd once, but I know some of his family & friends and they are all great people. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I only know Todd through his internet communications. I followed with great interest his receiver design projects. His knowledge was extensive and he was able to design outstanding products for a very complex and demanding market. He was a true genius and kind person and is missed by all who knew him. I am sorry for your loss and hope you find solace in learning what a great person he was.

This is incredibly sad news to come across. My sincere condolences to Todd’s family and friends.
Todd was indeed brilliant. It typically takes a team of people and significantly more time to bring to market what Todd created on his own. In many cases Todd’s creations worked better and were easier to configure.
Whether Todd was from across the street or from across the Internet It wouldn’t matter, he was admired by many and his friendship will be missed.
Todd you will be missed! You were a genius and always a good guy to me!
Sorry for your loss. Todd was a radio genius and will be missed.
Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I have his products and they are well designed and are fun to use. Was a gifted engineer and frankly him being banned from RR was unnecessary and was not good for his mental health. Rest in piece my friend. (1ST AMENDMENT)
My deepest sympathy to Todd’s family in this time of loss. I had the pleasure of many years of Todd’s friendship going back to the 80’s. So many fond memories with my buddy, playing guitars, hanging out and just listening to him explain his latest project. Todd was super talented at whatever he set his mind to.
Rest in peace my friend, you will be truly missed.
I am very sorry for your loss. Todd will be missed by all of us. I had learned a lot from him.

I did not know Todd personally, but followed his devolpments of his radio decoding products. Rest in peace Todd and thank you for the positive contributions to the RF and Radio communities.
So sorry to find out about this. Todd was revered in the scanning community as a pioneer of innovative equipment, and his personal attention to his customers was amazing, especially in this day and age. We communicated many times during the early stages of the first device he created.
