Donald E. Bruun

Donald E. Bruun, Age 88, passed away peacefully at home with family around him, Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was born May 17, 1936, in Mellen, Wisconsin, to parents Arthur and Clara Bruun. Don grew up in northern Wisconsin and then served in the Navy from 1953 to 1957. He was stationed at Hickam AFB, in Hawaii. In 1958, after his service in the Navy he met Doris Zeman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were married in March of 1959. Don worked at the Chevrolet plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, for eight years. Don and Doris are the parents of four children, Mike, Cheryl, Joe and Lisa. The Bruun family moved west to Richland, Washington in 1967. Don had various jobs until 1970 when he decided to be his own boss. He did appliance and refrigeration repair and opened a family business called Don’s Appliance. After 40 years in business, due to health issues, he retired. In retirement, Don and Doris purchased fixer upper houses and started a rental business which was very successful. He was a wonderful landlord to many including his children. He had many hobbies and loved to fish and play poker. His favorite was to fish at night under a full moon for walleyes. He loved to go to estate and yard sales, always coming home with a treasure and lots of gifts for the family. Don is survived by his wife Doris of 65 years, brother Dan, four children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John and sister Ethel.

His time has come and so peacefully he went with family around. He is on his way to heaven with one stop at the fishing hole with his coffee and donuts and just one pole. He’s off to catch the “ONE” we all know.

Fisherman’s Prayer
God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast then I most humbly pray, when in the Lord’s safe landing net I’m peacefully asleep, that in his mercy I be judged as big enough to keep.

No public Memorial Service is planned.
