Edward Reid Mitchell

Born September 10, 1926, in San Bernadino, California to Harvey & Millie Mitchell. He passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2024. Eddie was married to his sweetheart, Melba Mitchell, on April 19th, 1947, and was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 28, 1966.

Eddie & Melba had two wonderful sons, Bert & Dennis. Eddie loved attending all of his grandchildren’s events. He loved camping and boating, water skiing and hunting. He fixed anything and everything around his house and all of ours! He and Melba were faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They lovingly accepted a Mission call to serve as Missionaries at the Kennewick Store House, served as Temple Workers and Stake Missionaries.

Eddie was survived by his sons, Bert (Pam), and Dennis (Crestina). They had 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

  • I am honored to say that Eddie was like a second father to me. Eddie and Melba allowed me to come into their home for four summers when I was a teenager . The thins I learned from him were many, but most importantly was to be kind and enjoy life. Edie was a great influence that shaped how I wanted to live my life . For that I thank you Eddie. God bless you and Melba.

  • Ed and Melba are neighbors to my mother. Known them for many years now. They always had a smile on their faces when we saw them. And their house was always a most-stop-at house for Halloween. My kids always loved showing them what they were that year. I’m glad he can be with his lady again, and they can dance the night away! Love you both.

  • Eddie was one of the kindest and humble men I know. A visit with him always left me with a desire to do better and be better. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Melba. He will be missed but I am left with many fond memories. My condolences and love to his family.
