Margie Yesberger
Marge Yesberger, 97, passed away on August 2, 2024 in Richland, WA. She was born in 1927 in Frontenac, Kansas to Ella and Ralph in the family home. They moved to Colorado shortly after her birth. In her youth, Marge was an outstanding performer in dance, recognized as the best tap dancer in her division in Colorado at the age of 9. The family moved to Cheyenne when Marge was in high school and she played clarinet in the school band and enjoyed cheerleading and dancing.
Marge met her husband, Jerry, on the bus when both were returning to Denver from Colorado Springs. While visiting, they found they had similar interests and were fond of music. Both Marge and Jerry played the accordion and piano. They were married in 1948 in Colorado Springs and shared 67 years of marriage.
Following Jerry’s graduation from the University of Denver, he secured a position in Richland. Marge and their son, Louis, shortly followed. They were then blessed with three more children: John, Thomas ‘Tom,’ and Nancy. Richland became their permanent home where they grew fond of the community and its people. In the early 50’s they purchased a government ranch house on Torbett St. They often referred to their neighborhood as the best in town, as they enjoyed socializing with their neighbors and raising their kids together. When the children were older, Marge went to work at the Joint Center for Graduate Study, where she was an Administrative Assistant to the Program Director of NORCUS. She was employed over 10 years.
Throughout the years, Marge volunteered with various organizations, including the PTA, the Foot Clinic, and Kadlec. Marge dedicated over 30 years to the Kadlec Medical Center Auxiliary, contributing over 4000 volunteer hours. She especially enjoyed working with the Junior Volunteers.
Marge cherished her family and friends, always eager to meet new people. Friendships were often formed through her bridge groups, as she was an avid bridge player. Known for her generosity and selflessness, Marge was a remarkable friend and a devoted mother and grandmother, deeply involved in the lives of her loved ones. She was always willing to help in any capacity with no thought of reward or recognition.
Marge was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry, in 2015; her son, Louis ‘Louie,’ in 2017; three sisters and a brother. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Connie; grandsons Evan and Eric; son John; son Tom and his son and daughter, Devon and Priya; and her daughter, Nancy (Mark) McAllister and their children: Shane (Laura), Mari (Jeff Hansen), and Kevin; and seven great- grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends and relatives who supported Marge through her more challenging years. We are particularly appreciative of the dedicated caregivers and staff at Guardian Angel Homes, whose compassion and support have been invaluable. We are also deeply thankful to the staff and wonderful caregivers at Visiting Angels. In addition, the family is grateful to the Tri-City Chaplaincy team for their guidance and compassion during Marge’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marge’s name to the Tri-City Cancer Center, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (crohnscolitisfoundation.org), or the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.
