Crystal D. Palmer
Crystal D. (Kris) Palmer, 74, of Richland, WA passed away peacefully at Kadlec Medical Center on September 27, 2024. She was born in Midland, MI on March 29th, 1950 to Michael Robert McCormick and Peggy Jo McCormick (Murray). She graduated from Midland High School in 1968.
After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Scott Palmer on May 16th, 1970. Following their marriage, Dan and Kris moved to Ishpeming, Michigan. From there they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they started their family and were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Sarah and Christine. While the children were still young, the family moved to Hazen, North Dakota, then to Oklahoma City, Yuma, Arizona and finally settling down permanent roots in Richland, WA.
A few of her favorite things included her girls, grandchildren, great granddaughter, her fur babies Thor and Penny, traveling with family, entertaining family and friends, watching her grandchildren and their many activities (dance, baseball, hockey, and soccer), lunches/dinners out with friends, binge watching her favorite TV shows, and Tri City Americans hockey!
She was a stay-at-home mom during the girls’ childhood. Once the girls became old enough, she returned to the work force. The job that she loved the most, and retired from after 20 years, was being the “skate lady” at the Toyota Arena in Kennewick, WA. She was known fondly by the figure skaters, hockey players of all ages, as well as the community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Daniel Scott Palmer, parents Michael Robert McCormick and Peggy Jo McCormick (Murray), and brother Patrick McCormick. She is survived by her daughters; Sarah Elizabeth Hering (Jason) of Arvada, CO and Christine Marie Stacy of Richland, WA; four grandchildren whom she loved so very much; Michael Scott Palmer Stacy, Sadie Delynn Stacy, Tyler Robert Hering, and Tanner Scott Hering; and great granddaughter Brynlee Diane Stacy. She is also survived by her sisters; Erin Maness (Bill) of Kansas, Laurie Davis (Duncan Rae) of Midland, MI; and brother, Michael McCormick of California.
Services will be held at Einan’s at Sunset Event Center on October 18th, 2024 at 12:00pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to: Elijah Family Homes, 1721 W Kennewick Avenue, Kennewick, WA 99336.
My condolences to Kris’ family. My family will always be connected to the Palmers. I have many great memories of family get togethers with them. Bbqs, games, softball. Thanks Kris, for the occasional free skate session.
Although it has been awhile since I last saw Chris, I have many happy memories of growing up with her kids and their wonderful family. She will be great missed by all that knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time and may her spirit continue to live through her children and grandchildren who she loved so much.
Dan And Kris were such a big part of my family’s life for all of my childhood. They are both deeply missed and the Palmer family remains in my prayers. Know that they are together and looking down smiling (like they always were in life)!!❤️
Kris and Dan welcomed my mother and me with open arms to the Palmer family in 2014 when my mom married Michael, Dan’s brother. When I moved to the state of Washington in 2017, they once again extended that same warm welcome to me as I began to plant new roots out west. As I began to know Dan and Kris, countless others recounted their stories of the generosity and love that they were provided by Dan and Kris. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to spend time with them and so thankful to be able to have considered them to be family. May their memories continue to be celebrated as they are finally reunited in the house of the Lord.
With love and gratitude to the Palmers

Aunt Kris was the vibrant and loving matriarch of her family and I loved her hugs and sense of humor. Although I didn’t get to see her and Uncle Dan often, I have the best memories of our time together and will miss her very much ❤️

My deep sympathy to the family and many friends. I have fond memories of Kris and Dan through the 70s and 80s. It is hard to lose a parent and sibling. RIP Kris…
Sarah and Christina, I remember your family when you were going to Richland Lutheran Church. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. She was
very sweet person. My heart💔 breaks for you. Peace be with you both and your families.
