Deborah Kathleen Solo

Deborah, known affectionately as Debbie bid farewell to this world on September 16th, 2024, in Kennewick, WA. Born in Spokane on July 22, 1980, Deborah Kathleen Solo was 44 when she passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Debbie, the 5th of 7 children grew up amidst the rolling wheat fields of Valleyford, WA. Debbie found joy in her formative years at Freeman grade school and Freeman High School. A spirited individual, she played basketball and performed in the colorguard. She shared herself with others through acts of babysitting and baking for loved ones.

Venturing forth to Eastern Washington University, Debbie emerged with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a testament to her unwavering dedication to the art of teaching. Her character shone bright through her work at Excelsior school for troubled youth, where she provided solace to those in need.

Debbie’s motherly love resonated in the births of her precious children, Jonathan and Eliana. She filled their home with laughter, love and stability. In celebrating her nieces’ and nephews’ milestones, she found joy in the simple pleasures of familial bonds.

An anchor of support at Chiawana and Richland high schools, Debbie shaped young minds with her kindness and empathy, fostering growth and hope. Her heart overflowed with pride as she immersed herself in her son’s baseball endeavors, and she loved going on shopping adventures with her daughter to craft stores. She embodied the essence of unwavering maternal love.

Camping trips and fishing expeditions were a canvas for Debbie’s adventurous spirit, interwoven with her passions for cooking, gardening, and crafting homemade jam.

Debbie is survived by her children Jonathan and Eliana Solo, her mother Gloria Benson, Her sisters; Julie Konze and her husband Albert Konze and children Greta and Jonah Konze, Rebecca Benson and Barbara Benson. Her brothers Robert Benson, his children Luke Owen and Gabrielle Benson. Kelly Benson and his wife Janis Benson, their children Jake, Col and Adam Benson and Gregory Benson and his children Gloria and Harper Benson.

As we gather to honor Deborah’s memory, let us remember her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and students. Services for Deborah will take place at Christ the King on September 23, 2024, with a Rosary at 2:30pm and a Funeral Mass to follow at 3:30.

  • Debbie was one of the first people I met, freshman year at Eastern Washington University. She was such a good person and remained so, despite our friend groups many attempts to corrupt her. I have nothing but fond memories of Debbie and the world will miss her light.
