NAOMA M. RENZ
Naoma, “Naomi” was born on May 05, 1934 in Toppenish Washington and was the youngest child of seven to Clarence and Edmire Phipps. Raised on farms, Naomi learned to cook from a very early age, cooking bread three times daily for the labor force supporting her father’s farms. Her father raised many crops for local markets and bartered with local native tribes for fresh salmon and ethnic goods that influenced her affinity for hand-made garments adorned with turquoise. She was an avid gardener. Wherever she lived, her homes were surrounded by English styled gardens containing many, many rose bushes. She was a chef serving daily while raising her greatest joy, her seven children. A person of unwavering faith, she raised her children with measured discipline and unbounding love. A conservative person, she taught her children to appreciate and value what they had and what they received was her all. She was noted as saying, “Even if you have a dirt floor shack, sweep the dirt and keep it presentable.” Possibly, Naomi’s greatest trait was to love. Whether you were a relative or not, if you were loved by her, you were loved unconditionally. Society won’t remember this modest woman, but the legacy of this magnanimous Matron will be carried forward by those she loved and loved her.
She was preceded in death by Husband George Renz, Daughter Belinda Kaldor, Son-In-Law Scott Anderson, Daughter-In-Law Susan Renz, and Daughter-In-Law Lisa Renz. She was survived by Daughter Denise Renz, Daughter Cherese Anderson, Son Tim Renz and spouse Debbie Renz, Son Jeff Renz and spouse Leslie Renz, Son Lonnie Renz, Son Nathan Renz and spouse Mindy Renz along with 20 Grandchildren, and 44 Great Grandchildren.
Naomi’s beautiful smile and soul will never be forgotten by me. She was a kind soul and she raised wonderful caring children whom she was so very proud of.
Naomi you will be missed in my life and heart!
When aunt Naoma grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes and called me darling I felt like the most important person in the world to her. That’s how she made everyone feel. The older generation of our family was tough, capable, honest, strict but most importantly loving. I’m so grateful to be apart of our family and to continue to pass down the lessons and values we were taught. My condolences and love to everyone grieving this great loss. I take comfort knowing no doubt she is hearing the words we as christians long to hear from Jesus “well done my good and faithful servant”
