Eileen Marie Elser
Eileen Marie Elser of Pasco, Washington, left this world on October 16, 2024, in Richland, Washington at the age of 73. Eileen, born on May 3, 1951, in Graceville, Minnesota, the youngest of seven siblings. She spent her early years on a farm in Clinton, MN. She had fond memories of working with her dad on the family farm and going to school in the big snow blizzards. Back then there were no snow days. She had a favorite pet, a golden cocker spaniel.
In her adolescent years, Eileen moved with her parents to Oregon and graduated from Tigard High School. She pursued a career in accounting and worked in Portland and Coos Bay before eventually founding her own accounting firm. She had several clients she accounted for in and around the Portland area. One of her biggest clients was a printing shop in Beaverton, Oregon. Eileen found immense joy in her work and was able to retire early to explore the world with her beloved husband, Alvin W. Elser, to whom she was married for 25 years.
Eileen’s proudest moments were rooted in her family and their adventures. After selling her house in Tualatin, Oregon, Eileen and Al purchased a 42-foot motorhome. During the summer months, Eileen and Al would do work camping for the season at RV / Cabin resorts. Eileen would work in the office/store while her husband Al would work in the maintenance department. From traversing parts of Mexico and regions across the United States in their motorhome to hot air balloon rides over the vineyards of Newberg, Oregon watching the workers harvest the grapes, Eileen cherished every moment shared with Alvin. She enjoyed the wine country in California where she learned about the process of making varies wines and of course sampling. Eileen’s love for history and travel led her to various countries including Mexico, Hawaii, England, Germany, Belgium, France, Jamaica and New Zealand. Her favorite was New Zealand. The people were kind, friendly and not in a big rush.
She liked volunteering at the Hillsboro air shows each year when they came to town. She also volunteered her time at several Estate sales in the Portland area. She had one hip replacement in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the second hip replacement in Mobile, Alabama. While recuperating, Al found a job working for a maintenance department on condos. So, they bought a house in Foley, Alabama near the Gulf of Mexico. After Al retired a few years later, they sold their home and moved to Pasco, Washington where they had their dream home built.
Eileen liked reading books, stories on Facebook, and news stories posted on the internet. She had a keen eye and knowledge of the English language and was always checking for correct grammar and missed spelled words. She enjoyed camping out, canoeing and fishing outdoors, and went along with Al on big game hunts to Texas and New Zealand. She always found joy in planning and throwing parties for her family and friends as well.
Eileen is preceded in death by her father DeWayne Randall, mother Elenore Randall, brothers Dean Randall, Dayton Randall and Kenneth Randall, sister DeEtta Peltier, and nephew Ryan Thom.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 25 years, Alvin W. Elser, Stepdaughters Vivienne Gustavsen and her husband PJ Gustavsen and Jessica Rosales and her husband Reggie Rosales, Granddaughter Syliese Gustavsen, sister Lois Freemark, brother Roger Randall and his wife Virginia Randall, as well as many nieces and nephews.
