Reception
Dennis Dean Mortimore
Dennis Dean Mortimore, aged 78, serenely departed on his final journey to reunite with his beloved wife, Sandra June Mortimore, in the early hours of November 24, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Born on October 30, 1946, in Yakima, Washington, Dennis was the proud son of Alfred Elmer Mortimore and Wanda Lea Mortimore. He grew up in Prosser, Washington, where he would also eventually settle down.
Before calling Prosser his permanent home, Dennis ventured through various cities and states including Longview, Washington, New Mexico, and Bakersfield, California. While in Bakersfield fate introduced him to the love of his life, Sandra J. Mortimore. The couple sealed their love on November 29, 1973, in Reno, Neveda.
Together, Dennis and Sandi nurtured a beautiful family in Prosser, cherishing their four daughters: Chantilla, Linda, Kim, and Joey. Dennis’s professional life was diverse, ultimately leading him to roles as a Teamster for Hanford and a dedicated farmer in Prosser. His farms bloomed with cherries, apples, alfalfa, and the notable cattle affectionately named George.
Approaching retirement, Dennis and Sandi embarked on a new seasonal adventure, becoming snowbirds who wintered in the south. Throughout these travels, they forged deep, lasting friendships with folks from across the nation.
Dennis’s passions included dancing, trail riding, farming, and tinkering with old cars. Dennis was a respected member of the Prosser Eagles and the VFW.
Dennis’s memory lives on through his brother, Alfred Paul Mortimore; his daughters: Chantilla Mortimore, Linda (Bryan) Christensen; and Joey Peschong; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Wanda Mortimore; his brother, Michael Mortimore; sister, Kathleen Chrisp; his beloved wife, Sandra Mortimore; daughter, Kim Murray; and grandchildren: Nathan Butterfield and Jonathan Maganas; Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.
To provide family and friends the opportunity to gather and honor Dennis, a Celebration of Life with reception is to be held February 1, 2025, at Einan’s Event Center (Events at Sunset) 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, WA, – 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
