In Loving Memory of Dorothy B. Walker
March 29, 1933 – November 8, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Walker on November 8, 2024, after a long bout with dementia. She was a long-time resident of Richland, Washington.
Although Dorothy was born in Butler, Missouri, she grew up with her parents and two younger sisters, Cleo and Ellen, in Wenatchee, Washington. Dorothy graduated from Wenatchee High and earned her degree from Washington State College. After graduation, she moved to the Tri-Cities and worked as a secretary for General Electric. While working in Richland she met the love of her life, Will, at a community center dance. They were married for 57 years until Will passed away in 2015.
Dorothy and Will both shared a love for travel and adventure, which led them to explore the United States in an RV after Will’s retirement. They also traveled internationally with their church choir, visiting various countries across the globe.
Dorothy left her job in 1959 to raise three sons but later returned to work at the Jewelry Tree in Richland. She was a dedicated member of P.E.O. Chapter FK and Central United Protestant Church, where she volunteered for many years. Dorothy enjoyed participating in her book club, Bible study, and was an active supporter of local theater and the arts. She was also a member of the Columbia Basin Racket Club and the Stitch & Bitch knitting group. She also volunteered as a docent at the CREHST Museum in Richland until it closed in 2014. Though she cherished her friends, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life!
Dorothy is survived by her first son, Craig and his wife Dede of Jacksonville, Florida and their two sons Davis (Sophia) and Jack of Denver, Colorado, by her second son, Gary and his wife, Maria, both of Phoenix, Arizona, and their daughter Corrine (Jason) and great grandsons Dylan and Austin of Flagstaff, Arizona and their son Collin of Huntsville, Alabama, by her third son, Todd and his wife Jean, and their two sons, Drew and Nick all of Carlsbad, California, her sister Cleo (Chuck) of Bend, Oregon, her sister Ellen of Vancouver, Washington and by her one niece and three nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Ruby Black and her husband William Walker.
The family is grateful to the staff at La Marea Senior Living and Cabrillo Hospice of Carlsbad, California for their compassionate care during the last two years of Dorothy’s life.
A Memorial Service will be held on December 14th at 10:00 AM at Central Church in Richland with a celebration of life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to:

This is sad news. She and Will gave so much to the CREHST Museum and was such a big part of Spring Swing. Always willing to help whenever asked. She will be missed by so many. Ellen and Nick Low
