Patricia Cassidy

Pat ascended to her heavenly Father’s loving arms Friday, December 13, 2024.

God blessed J. Victor and Ethel (Mullie) Mulligan with Pat’s arrival in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 25, 1935.  She was the oldest of two children and spent her youth setting the foundation of what would be her life’s mission, an absolute devotion to her faith, family, and friends.

Pat moved to Richland in 1943.  She was a 1953 graduate of Columbia High School.  She married the love of her life, Bob Cassidy, on September 8, 1953.  They shared 51 years of marriage.  Together they raised four children.  They provided loving and timely guidance while the family grew from 6 to 52 (and counting!) with the addition of their children’s spouses and three levels of grandchildren that followed.

Pat, besides being the best mom and an amazing baker of goodies, worked a variety of jobs until she followed her mother Mullie’s footsteps and took over the role she was destined for, secretary at Westside Church.  More than 40 years later, she “retired”, and the following Tuesday began her “new career” as a volunteer in the Westside office. Throughout her career mom brought the same blessings to her Westside family that she brought to her family and friends: an open heart, a sympathetic ear, a helping hand, and sound advice.  Her superpower was delivering those blessings to all with love, joy, and infectious laughter.  Interactions with Pat were your opportunity to feel loved, connected, and special.

Pat’s father, mother, brother George Mulligan, husband Bob, and daughter Paula Jo preceded her heavenly arrival.  She is survived by her sons and their wives:  Steve (Debbie), Mike (Monica), and Tom (Grace); 9 grandchildren and their spouses:  Kyle (Alison), Karen (Giorgio), Cameron (Trish), Brandon (Amy), Brad (Kelsey), Edward (Gina), Angel (Tony), Stephanie (Jeremee), and Tommy (Julia); and a platoon of great and great-great grandchildren.

Mom, we love you and miss you.  You are, in the words of Irving Gordon and delivered in song by Nat King Cole, “Unforgettable in every way and forevermore that’s how you’ll stay.”  You made each of us feel as unforgettable to you as you were to us.  Happy trails mom, until we meet again!

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Windsong Memory Care at Southridge’s staff for the loving care provided these last 2 years.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to West Side Church.

  • I loved the way Pat’s smile lit up a room! She was so gracious and easy to connect with. I am so thankful I got to know Pat while she worked in the office at West Side and I was teaching in the preschool. Forever, she will hold a special place in my heart. ♥️ My sincerest sympathies to the family.
