Ernest G. Thompson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest G. Thompson, who left us peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on September 11, 1960, in Nampa, Idaho, Ernest made Richland, WA, his home for over 40 years, where he built a life full of love and laughter.

Ernest dedicated his career to being a Heavy Equipment Operator at the US Ecology LLRW Disposal Facility, where he was known for his hard work and camaraderie with his colleagues. He is survived by his loving spouse, Charmaine Busler, and his daughter, Cory Dean (Derrick). He was also a proud grandfather to Maylene and a stepfather to Stephen Busler. Completing his family circle, he leaves behind his mother, Julie Grewe, his brothers Tim, Randy, and Rod, as well as numerous friends and acquaintances who will cherish their memories of him.

Ernest was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in NASCAR racing, crafting walking sticks, and enjoying a cold Coors Light. While he wasn’t much for travel, he embraced his inner “Desert Rat” and loved pizza, burgers, and, of course, blueberry pie. His warmth and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

While he may be gone from our sight, his spirit and love will forever remain with us.

We invite everyone whose life was touched by Ernest to consider honoring his memory with donations to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.
