John Harry Armstrong
John H. Armstrong, 83, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away on January 26, 2025. Born in Ilion, New York, on January 25, 1942, to the late James and Esther Armstrong, John’s family relocated to Richland, Washington in 1944, where he was a proud alumnus of Richland High School.
After graduation, John honorably served his country in the United States Navy where he spent time at Pearl Harbor. His time in the service was a source of great pride throughout his life.
Following his military tenure, John spent many fulfilling years at Hanford, where he was not only respected for his work ethic but was also beloved for his role as a handyman, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. His colleagues remember him as a man who brought joy and reliability to every interaction.
In his personal life, John was a devoted family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Cecil, and together they raised three daughters: Vicky, Denise, and Kathy. After 29 years, their marriage ended and life brought him a second love, Louise, and together they celebrated nearly 25 years of shared joy and family life, welcoming Louise’s children and stepchildren into his heart.
An avid outdoorsman, John’s hobbies included hunting and fishing—spending considerable time in Alaska pursuing the latter. He was also fond of bowling, cruising, golfing and he had a particular fondness for peanut butter cookies. A fan of Westerns and blockbuster movies like Jurassic Park and Godzilla, John often watched these films repeatedly with his family and cherished these movie nights, even if they often ended with him falling asleep.
John is survived by his daughters, Vicky Armstrong, Denise Armstrong, and Kathy Armstrong; his wife, Louise Armstrong; his stepchildren; Penny (Brian) Brentin, Terry (Craig) Dinkage, Robert (Heidi) Hinthorn, and Cassy Glaspie; his brother, Ron Armstrong; and his sisters, Jean (Wayne) Reynolds and Gayla (John) Worlund. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Esther Armstrong.
John’s life was a testament to the values of family, service, and community. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and steadfast dedication to his family will be treasured by all who knew him.

Louise, I’m honored to have been of service to John regarding his hearing healthcare. God’s peace be with you and your family always.
Jack was a caring and loving man. He cared about people enough to help in times of need thru his handy man services and his caring for family and friends. He loved to take time and listen to people and their stories and he loved his family. We will miss his smiles, and the fact that he could laugh at himself as well as with you. Rest in peace Jack
