Linda Jo-Ann was born April 28, 1946 in Spokane, WA. Her early childhood was spent surrounded by numerous extended family members in New Orleans, LA. Just before entering junior high, her family moved back to Washington state and settled in Colfax. When Linda was just twelve years old, tragedy struck when her father suffered a fatal massive heart attack, leaving Linda, her little brother, and their mother without the head of their home. Her mom soon remarried. This brought about an increase in responsibility and trauma which would leave Linda deeply wounded. She eventually graduated from Colfax high School in 1964.
Not able to afford college tuition, Linda stayed near home to help with family expenses. During that time, she was introduced to Howard by her cousin, Monty. Howard was smitten! By the end of their first date he declared, “I’m going to marry you someday!” After four years of dating, they were married in 1967 and were together for fifty-five years until Howard’s passing in 2022.
During the early years of their marriage, while Howard worked for Boise Cascade, Linda became certified in the secretarial field. She would work in several law offices before settling at Chvatal Law Offices, where she would spend the remaining thirty years of her career. Linda enjoyed traveling near and abroad with her co-workers throughout the years.
Linda and Howard attended Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco for over 50 years. Linda served as a bus captain, helped in the 2- and 3- year-olds class, sponsored many children to be able to attend church camp during the summers, and supported numerous missionaries around the world.
Howard and Linda were blessed with three children, Chad, Joanna, and Tiffany. She considered it her greatest blessing to be a mother and then later in life, Nana to her three grandchildren Ryan, Lindy, and Andrew. She was always there whenever her kids and grandkids were involved whether it was sports, music, church, or jus being there to lend an ear. She was always their most supportive cheerleader!
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; dad, Louis Khune; mother, Lucille Schmitz; brother, John Khune; and sister, Julie Ann Smith.
She is survived by son, Chad, and daughters, Joanna (husband Richard Metzger), and Tiffany, as well as her three grandchildren, Ryan, Lindy, and Andrew.
