Michael Mudd

Michael A. “Mike” Mudd, born on June 13, 1963, in Richland, Washington, at Kadlec Hospital, passed away on January 4, 2025, at the Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington, after a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, Mike exhibited remarkable determination and an unwavering desire to remain with his beloved family and friends, often expressing, “I am not ready to die.”

Mike grew up in Richland and attended Jason Lee Elementary School, Chief Jo Junior High School, and Richland High School. As a proud Bomber, he especially enjoyed his time in auto shop classes, which sparked a lifelong passion for the automotive industry. This passion became his career, and for over two decades, Mike was a valued member of McCurley Integrity Dealership in Pasco, Washington. He was known for his expertise and dedication to his work.

From an early age, Mike developed a deep love for the outdoors—a passion instilled by his father and grandfather. He found joy in fishing, hunting, off-roading, and crafting his own fishing lures. Many evenings were spent standing in line at Burbank for pit draws during hunting season, followed by weekends in goose pits or duck blinds calling in waterfowl. Whether exploring the mountains for deer and elk, casting a line on a lake or river, or enjoying the thrill of the hunt, Mike was happiest surrounded by nature.

Above all else, Mike cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He treasured every moment spent with his five children and twelve grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be held close by those who loved him.

Mike is survived by his parents, Ronald J. Mudd and Carole A. Mudd; his sisters Melisa K. Stading (Frank L. Stading) and Lisa A. Monk (Donnie S. Monk); his niece and nephews Joshua Stading (Brittany FoxStading) and their children Zoey and Zane; Darren Stading and his children Kimber and Ryatt; Christy L. Koehler (Randy Koehler) and their children Violet and Maizie; and his children Kamilla Larson (Matthew Larson) and their children Lyric, Lucian, Lincoln, Scarlett, and Stella; Kevin Mudd (Shaylee Mudd) and their children Jackson and Johnny; Makayla Smith (Justin Smith) and their child Parker; Abigail Mudd Franklin (Bobby Franklin) and their children Paisley and Hudson; and Katie Mudd and her children Zayden and River. His legacy of love continues through his grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on February 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Einan’s at Sunset Gardens in Richland, Washington. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Lost Barn Venue in West Richland. Friends and family are invited to gather for food, refreshments, and shared memories of Mike’s remarkable life.

May Mike’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

  • It has been many years since I have seen Mike. Bought a lot of parts from him when he worked at the parts store in the 80’s in the Uptown…He always talked about his Bronco. A real nice guy and always got the right parts for me. RIP Mike..

  • I meet Mike about 23 years through an online dating sight! Yep Equestrian Singles! LOL We met in person after talking for awhile and it was good. 😀 We dated for a little while but I lived in Elk, WA and he lived in the Tri Cities so if we wanted to not have a long distance relationship one of us would have to relocate. We decided to put my daughter and his kids first and the best would be for neither of us to relocate. The stong connection and friendship we had though kept us very close friends over the years. Mike was the most loving, kind person I have ever met. I miss him dearly. RIP my dear friend and like I told you the last day I saw and spoke to you at Hospice…See you later. ♥️

  • It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Mike. He was an awesome brother-in-law, father to his children and fellow hunting and fishing partner. Until we meet again in heaven R.I.P. Michael
