Robert F Stone
Robert Francis Stone passed away on January 12th, 2025 at a University of Washington hospital in Seattle. He was born on November 21st, 1969 in Yakima, WA to Francis (Frank) and Diane (Orthmann) Stone. Robert (Bob) had autism and cerebral palsy and required special care in Bremerton, Medical Lake, and Yakima.
When he was young, Robert loved sitting in his Grandma Stone’s lap with her singing songs like itsy bitsy spider and playing patty cake. He enjoyed visits from family, interacting with animals, watching game shows on tv, and listening to music. Visits from family would often include holding his hand and a trip to the pop machine so Robert could enjoy his favorite beverage. Robert had a passion for food and appreciated a good meal like macaroni and cheese. His caregivers often remarked about how special Robert is and how much they liked working with him. Robert’s smile spoke a thousand words.
Robert is survived by his Mother, Diane; sisters Virginia, Suzanne, Shirley, and Joanne; brother, Aaron; ten nieces and nephews; five grand nieces and nephews; and multiple aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank; Grandma (Albina) and Grandpa (Dorsey) Stone; Grandma (Shirley) and Grandpa (Charles) Orthmann; and three uncles.
To the family of Robert Stone. I had the pleasure of working with Robert here at SOLA and want you to know how very special he was to us all. He was a perfect fit for the house and his housemates got along with him right from the start. His smile would melt your heart. He showed pride in all he could do and any independence he had was important. My only regret is he was with us for too short a time. He is in peace now in the arms of god.
Diane, Virginia, Suzanne, Shirley, Aaron, and Joanne,
We’re so sorry about Robert. This is a lovely obituary and picture; he seems to have a twinkle in his eye. We love you all and will be with you in our hearts tomorrow.
