Ella Mae Myers
Ella Mae Myers (Koon), 85, of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025 with her family surrounding her. She was born on November 20, 1939, in Scobey, MT and was the 3rd child of 10 born to Harold and Dorothy Day.
Ella grew up on a dry-land farm 13 miles south of Flaxville, MT, where she attended school, and loved playing trumpet in the school band. Following her high school graduation, she worked as a phone operator and then a waitress at a restaurant, where she met her first husband at age 19. By age 25, she had five children.
While raising her family in Mattawa, WA, Ella was a school bus driver for the Mattawa School District until she moved to Richland, WA in 1982. Ella worked for the Hanford site as a bus driver, then as a dispatcher. She met her second husband, Herman Myers, during her time working for Hanford. She also worked as a dispatcher for Laidlaw Taxi Company.
Baking was a large part of her. Ella was known for her sugar cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, cinnamon rolls, rice crispy treats, and brownies to name a few. She also made the best gravy ever!! Her treats were shared with many, just like her love of scrapbooking. Ella made many life-long friends attending several scrapbooking retreats, and passed this fun hobby to her daughters as well.
Ella loved traveling, especially with her family going on cruises and road trips, which included multiple trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Alaska, Caribbean Islands, and recently a 9-day road trip of Route 66 (Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA).
Ella was a loving mother and was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband Herman Myers of 27 years, stepchildren, Dewayne (Becky) and Kenneth); Daughters, Kristie (Scott), Bonnie, and Tricia (Rick); Sons, Tim (Dawnita), and Randy (Chris); Grandchildren, Chris (Allissa), Ryan (Kristi), Kelsie (Martin), Josh (Jessica), Michael (Melissa), Dannielle (Matt), Randy Jr. (McKenzie), Jordan (Stephanie), and Selina; And her great-grandchildren Kiara, Ethan, Chloe, Jace, Carter, Luka, Hollie, Marty, Khaley, Londyn, Asher, Ryker, Paxton, Landon, Sawyer, Carter Mae, Maxon, and Brewer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Day, Sisters, Hazel Day and Sara Hedahl, and her grandson, Josh Malliot-Koon.
A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, WA at 2 PM.
