Roy C. Brogdon Jr.

Roy Clayton Brogdon Jr., 85, of West Richland went home to be with the Lord peacefully on February 16th, 2025. He was born November 14th, 1939, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Roy and Vena Brogdon. Roy is survived by his wife Aleda; four children, daughter Dawn Corcoran, and sons Shawn (Daralyn), Scott, and Stan (Melissa); 20 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother William (Billy); and son Casey.

Roy’s work career included 22 years in the Navy (11 years active and reserve), time at Boeing and later moving to the Tri-Cities in 1974 to work for Westinghouse. He finished his time at Hanford after working in finance for various contractors and retired in 2007.

He and Aleda would have celebrated their 40th anniversary this June. They married in 1985, and grew to greatly enjoy traveling together, especially their regular trips to the Oregon coast, and the Coeur D’Alene Resort. She was the love of his life.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He enjoyed chasing elk and loved being on the ocean. After retirement he filled at least a part of many days on the golf course, and some of them he never played. Some days he would just go down for a couple hours and spray weeds or fix tee blocks. Roy was always willing to help others. Not to gain favor, but simply because it was who he was. With a smile on his face, he would often volunteer to help someone before they had even asked. He was truly the most selfless person I have ever known. Roy will be dearly missed by everyone in his circle, and by many others, some who barely knew him.

Roy’s ashes will be spread in his favorite elk woods, and in the salt water he cherished deeply. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. To enquire about the details, please call (509)544-8031.

  • Thank you Grandpa for all of the amazing things you’ve taught me to do, the wonderful stories you’ve shared, the way you had the words to make me feel brave and guide me to do things right,
for the way you’ve always been there for me from homework to hard times, for the fun adventures and playing around, for loving me. With all that you have imparted on me I will do my best to hold on to those things and to pass them on. I love you and will miss you always.
