William Stewart Wolfe
William Stewart Wolfe, lovingly known as Bill or Billy, passed away on February 2nd surrounded by love. He was born June 23, 1938, in Bremerton, Washington, to Al and Zelma Wolfe.
Bill spent his early years in Bremerton with his parents and brother, Jim Wolfe. At the age of 16, he moved to Benton City, Washington, to assist his grandparents on their family farm. This experience instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation and love for agriculture.
After graduating high school, Bill met the love of his life, Gloria Ann (Morgan) Wolfe. The couple married and began a lifelong partnership filled with love and shared dreams. They moved to Pullman, Washington, where Bill pursued higher education at Washington State University. He earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in horticulture, a field that reflected his passion for cultivating growth and nurturing life.
While in Pullman, Bill and Gloria welcomed their two children: James (Jimmy) Wolfe in 1962 and Kelly Wolfe Edwards in 1964. Family was at the heart of Bill’s life, and he took immense pride in supporting and cherishing his loved ones.
After completing his studies, Bill returned with his family to Benton City to pursue farming. A man of much ambition and vision, he also became an entrepreneur, founding several successful businesses. Among these was Kenyon Zero Cold Storage, where he and his partners grew a thriving enterprise before selling it to Lineage Logistics in 2021. Another venture was Wolfies Drive Inn—the town’s first-ever drive-through restaurant. Wolfies brought joy to the community for years as a beloved gathering place.
Bill will be remembered for his endless sense of humor and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a remarkable talent for telling jokes, always aiming to make those around him smile. Whether among family, friends, or colleagues, Bill’s ability to create laughter amongst others was unforgettable.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria Wolfe, daughter, Kelly Wolfe Edwards (Jack Edwards), brother Jim Wolfe, grandchildren Nicole Wolfe Shtayyeh, Ryan Wolfe, Chase Edwards, Dillon Edwards, Mihaela Edwards and Gabriela Edwards. He was also blessed with many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, James Howard Wolfe.
Bill’s legacy is one of dedication—to his family, his work, and the values he held dear. His memory will live on through those that knew and loved him best. May his life continue to inspire and bring joy to all who were fortunate to share his journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 19th at the Event Center at Sunset Gardens at 2pm, with a reception following.
