Myrl Gene Briggs
Myrl Gene Briggs died on April 12, 2025. He was 74 year old. Myrl was born in Bancroft, Iowa, to Archer and Orpha (McFarland) Briggs.
While attend school, Myrl loved being in band, going to Boy Scouts, playing football, and running in track. Myrl graduated in May 1968. He left to go into the Air Force about a month after graduation. He spent 24 years in the Air Force where he got his master’s degree in electrical engineering
Myrl married Linda Johnson on August 11, 1973. They were married 51 years and had two children, a son and a daughter.
Myrl’s proudest career accomplishment was getting his master’s degree and becoming an officer in the USAF. He was proud working with the Honor Guard doing military funerals. Myrl enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, bowling, golfing, and fishing. After retiring he enjoyed going to McAllen, Texas, during the winter months and going on cruises with Linda.
Myrl is survived by his wife, Linda, son Todd Briggs, daughter Teresa (Derek) Wright, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother Donald Funderburk, sister Sheryl Panico, a niece and two nephews.
Myrl was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duane Briggs.
