Marshall Baker
Marshall R. Baker of Richland Wa, passed away May 21st of 2025. Marshall was born in Pasco, WA on January 2nd, 1945, to Hazel M. Hammer and Raymond P. Baker.
Marshall lived his life to the fullest. As soon as he graduated high school, he went straight to the navy and was stationed in Alameda California and worked as a hospital coreman. He had his first son Terry in 1968, a few short months later he decided to move back to the Richland where he had his second son Matthew in 1970. Marshall had a few odd end jobs until 1973 where he found his passion to be a Richland Firefighter, he served alongside his best friend Don Siemens and was eventually promoted to Captain. Unfortunately, he ended up hurting his back and was forced to retire. He then worked for the V.A Hospital in Walla Walla, then as a site safety officer for George Grant Construction at the Hanford site until he officially retired in 1995.
When Marshall wasn’t working you could find him out in the mountain’s archery hunting or down at the river fishing with his best friend Don! Marshall also liked going to Alaska for the best salmon fishing then coming home and tell his grandkids all the stories! In 2005 Marshall met his life long partner Gloria Mccoulgha, it was love at first sight!
He is survived by his two sons, Terry and Matt; his sister, Radine Mills; his niece, Julie Ridewood; his Significant Other, Gloria, and her daughters; Katie and Kelly Mccoulgha; and all of his grandkids Braxton, Nathaniel, Terren, Brooklyn, Ella, Sunny, Bobby and Lola, Crosby, Mack, Isaiah, Elicciah, Ava, Christian, Olivia, as well as his great grandson Li’l Braxton; his best friend Don Siemens and Buddy #2 (his dog).
He is proceed in death by his parents Hazel and Raymond and his forever fishing partners Buddy #1, and Buster (his dogs).
Tell we meet again we will forever love and miss you dad, Poppy’s, grandpa, snooks . We hope you’re up there hunting the biggest bull elk you can find!
I am saddened to hear of the loss of your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family I will always remember my friendship your father. From when we first met at the Richland Fire Department and his love of being in the outdoors camping and bow hunting and fishing.
Marshall was a good man. He and Dad were such great friends. I can remember going with Dad to see Marshall and also some of the trips for archery shoots. As kids we would stop by the house when we were in the neighborhood just to say hello. And now Dad has joined Marshall in heaven. I am sure that big bull elk is right there and they are having a drink and enjoying each others company.
Marshal was a good man and loved his sons very much. I pray that the sons and grandkids remember the good times with Marshall, miss him but not mourn.
