Graveside
Julie McElroy
Julie Anne McElroy, 58, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 30, 2025. She was born on January 8, 1967, in Richland, Washington, to Dale and Joyce McElroy. Her father, Dale, survives her.
Julie grew up in the Tri-Cities and graduated from Hanford High School in 1986. She later attended Seattle Community College, where she earned a certificate in office clerical studies, and also attended Columbia Basin Community College.
Julie worked for Lockheed Martin, initially supporting the Hanford news organization and then the workstation maintenance group.
Julie will be remembered for her sharp wit, remarkable memory, and her gift for connection. She had an uncanny ability to remember birthdays, addresses, and the details that made others feel seen. Born with a hearing impairment, Julie mastered the art of lip reading — a skill that enabled her to become a natural conversationalist and ensured she was always at the center of the room, sharing in every moment.
She maintained close and loving relationships with her family, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Julie is survived by her father, Dale McElroy; her brother, Jeff McElroy, of Austin, Texas; and her beloved nephew, Max. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her kind heart, thoughtful check-ins, and the spontaneous text messages that reminded everyone they were loved.
A graveside ceremony will be held at Einan’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Flowers or cards may be sent to 8709 W. 3rd Avenue, Kennewick, WA 99336.
Julie’s spirit, warmth, and gentle humor will live on in the hearts of those she touched
I remember Julie from Hanford HS long ago, and she was courageous, yet full of humor, in the face of obstacles. I admired her then and even more today. I am sorry to see this light go out.
