Larry Nunn
Larry Lee Nunn, 77, of Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026.
Born on May 15, 1948, in San Diego, California, Larry loved spending time surfing at the beach and camping in the Sequoias in his early years.
Larry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his service, he met his wife, Sharon, while on leave in Australia. Together, they raised their sons, Matthew and Brendan, in San Diego, where he worked as an ironworker at National Shipbuilding and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from San Diego State University. In 1980, he relocated his family to Richland, Washington, and began a 30-year career at Hanford’s B-Plant, where he was known for his steady work ethic and quiet dedication.
Larry possessed a remarkable memory and a gift for storytelling. He loved history and historic places, often recalling dates, names, and details long after others had forgotten them. He felt most at ease in peaceful settings and in meaningful conversation. He also had a deep love of music, especially country and western, and the rock ‘n’ roll of his youth. He was particularly fond of Willie Nelson and Bruce Springsteen.
After Sharon’s passing, Larry married Jennifer, and together they shared a life centered on companionship, travel, and caring for many rescue animals.
In retirement, Larry dedicated many years to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, delivering food to community members. He valued the chance to help others and did so with humility. In his later years, he became a well-known and valued presence in the Richland Dog Park community. Friends remember him as a kind man who welcomed conversation with anyone, always ready to listen and share stories as his dogs played close by.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer F. Nunn, of Richland, Washington; his son Matthew Nunn and daughter-in-law Agnes Hoppe of Seattle, Washington; his son Brendan Nunn and daughter-in-law Jessica Trovato-Nunn, and his granddaughter, Matilda, of Bloomfield, New Jersey; his sister Becky Seabock of Boise, Idaho; his brother Tim Nunn of White Rock, British Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth; and his brother, Steven.
Larry will be remembered for his service, his appreciation of quiet moments, and his devotion to family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1 pm at the Veterans Memorial at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Richland, Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Larry’s memory to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society and Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels.
May you Rest in Peace friend. I look forward to seeing you in Heaven.
You would always introduce me as your favourite nephew – YOU
were my favourite uncle.
I cherished the trips every couple of years you made together with
Sharon, to the warm waters of the pacific, Manly and Byron.
You loved the beach and the ocean. I remember those days; the
walks, the swims.
Above all of the many great things I could say about our friendship, it
was the humility that shone through the most and left a lasting
impression in my heart.
Truly blessed to have shared the last days with you, talking about all
the things we both love, there together with all the people we love,
just hanging out.
You lived your life with the greatest qualities we all strive to have;
love, compassion and generosity. Qualities that live on through your
children, Matthew and Brendan and your granddaughter Matilda.
Not as we take, but as we give,
Not as we pray, but as we live.
These are the things that make for peace,
both now and after time shall cease
Uncle Larry was by far the best story teller and his memory was amazing. His recollection for small details made his stories come to life! He was a great man and the world will be less bright without him in it. He raised 2 amazing men who will forever carry on his legacy. He was a wonderful older brother to my mom and will be greatly missed. I wish I could be there in person to celebrate the life of this great man, but I am sending my thoughts and prayers to your family during this incredibly difficult time.

It was a pleasure to meet you, Larry, on my first day at the dog park! Fern and I were new to the East side of the mountains, and the climate. You reminded me that I needed to get out of the sun. Thank you for making us feel at home.
I was a friend of Larry and Sharon and then on Facebook. My heart is broken. He would have much to say about all going on in world today.
🐶❤️🐶
Larry was a great guy and a great friend. We spent many hours at the dog park talking about the music of the 60’s and 70’s, and never could I stump him with my trivia questions abut the songs and artists that defined our generation. Rest easy, my friend. JJ. Jennifer – love and peace. JJ and Naomi.
We are friends of Larry’s and Jennifer’s from the dog park. Larry and I have exactly the same birthday.
We took a donation to the Benson Franklin Humane Society today in Larry’s name. We have enjoyed our comfortable and warm friendship with Larry and Jennifer.
