Steven E. Chalk

On December 12, 2025, Steven E. Chalk passed away at Richland Life Care at the age of 74.

Steven graduated from La Sierra High School and went on to attend the Maritime Academy, where he earned his degree in Marine Engineering. He devoted 46 years of his life to power plant construction, building a career marked by dedication, skill, and craftsmanship.

In his spare time, Steven cherished camping trips with his family, coaching his sons’ Little League team, practicing archery, and riding motorcycles. He had a deep passion for family and took great pride in helping his sons build their own Harleys—memories they will carry with them always.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Tomi L. Chalk; his sons, Steven Zachary Chalk and Travis Emmett Chalk; and his daughter, Catlin May. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa,” and who brought immense joy into his life. In addition, Steven leaves behind his faithful dog, Two Ears, who was a loyal companion and constant presence by his side.

The family invites you to a Celebration of Life at Events at Sunset on March 13th at 1:00 p.m., where light refreshments will be served and stories will be shared in honor of Steven’s memory.

“Some journeys end, others begin.

May the road rise gently to meet him,

and may he ride in peace

where the horizon never ends.”

  • Steve,
Although I did not work directly under you, you were in my orbit and for that I am grateful. You always had good mechanical advice and a good sense of humor. I will always look back on my time on the 5th floor of the federal building with fond memories. Rest well.

  • I am SO sorry for your loss and I am sorry I will miss Steve’s service as I am in the middle of moving to Tennessee. I first met Steve about 50 years ago and have cherished his friendship! We even got to be office partners at work for awhile! He was so fun and talked nonstop about how much he loved his family! 🙏💔
