n Loving Memory: Curtis “Curt” Freeman Hedger
October 1944 – March 23, 2026
A Life of Service and Integrity
Curtis Freeman Hedger, 81, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. A Seattle native, Curt lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and an immense devotion to his family and community.
A proud veteran, Curt served as an E4 Storekeeper in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 33 years to a distinguished career as a systems tester at Hanford. His colleagues knew him as a man of precision and integrity—traits that he carried into every facet of his life.
Legacy and Mentorship
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Curt was a pillar of his community and a mentor to many. He was deeply involved in the Sea Cadets and Young Marines programs, where he spent years guiding and shaping the lives of young people with patience and wisdom. An avid fisherman, he found his greatest peace on the water, often sharing that passion with those he loved. Above all, Curt was a man of steadfast faith and a devoted member of the Richland Church of the Nazarene.
A Global Family
Curt’s heart for others knew no borders. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy Hedger; his brothers, Karl and Bradley Hedger; his sons, Charlie and Christopher Hedger; and his daughters, Maria, Linda, and Shelly.
He leaves behind a vast and loving legacy including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His impact reaches across the world through the children he adopted in other countries, as well as a community of friends and mentees who are all better for having known him.
