Becky Strode
In Loving Memory of Becky Ann Strode, a lifelong resident of West Richland, WA passed away on April 22, 2026, at Richland Post Acute Care Facility in Richland, WA.
Becky was born February 18, 1972, to James and Mary Alice Strode, a Computer Scientist and a Nurse—a blend of logic and compassion that she applied throughout her life. She graduated from Hanford High School in 1990. After high school she attended the Yakima Police Explorer Academy in Yakima, WA and later attended Central Washington University where she graduated with degrees in Law & Justice; Psychology & Sociology. Becky dedicated her professional career to the safety and care of others at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Her journey began on July 15, 1995, when she joined the team as a Safety and Security Officer. Her commitment and leadership eventually led her to serve as the Chief of Security. She further contributed to patient care as a Telemetry Monitor Technician an unsung role where she saved many lives and became a favorite among the nursing staff. She was a fixture of the Kadlec medical community, known for her courage, strength, and unwavering work ethic.
Becky is survived by her father James, Aunt Mildred (Mugs) Lyons, and several cousins. She is proceeded in death by her mother Mary Alice. Becky had a small and intimate family. She always said, “You can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends.” Becky made friends easily throughout school, work, and her many craft communities. Her greatest talents were tatting, sketching, watercolor painting, polymer clay, diamond dotting, and she just started to learn to sew and quilt. Becky had a kind heart. She was witty, funny, and loving. She loved to try new things. She had a love for animals, especially cats. A devoted “cat mom” she leaves behind two Manx cats named Rocket and Sasquatch and is now reunited with her cherished cat Yoda, who passed away over the rainbow bridge a few years ago. Every conversation included these three Fur-babies. Her love for people was equally immense, even as a patient herself, she’d befriend and console many patients at DaVita Dialysis, Richland Acute Care, and Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She always found the strength to visit with others. Her love for life, courage, and strength will be remembered always by everyone who loved her beautiful soul.
We will gather and celebrate her life on May 14, 2026, at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home off the bypass highway in Richland, WA.
Family and friends are invited to attend Becky’s celebration of life with the viewing to start at 10:30am and the graveside burial at 1:00pm. After the burial we will head back up to the chapel for refreshments.
Becky was such a kind and gentle soul. We were neighbors growing up and I have many happy memories playing at her house in elementary school. She did her best to try to teach me one of the many hula dancers she mastered and made look so easy. I was at her place playing when Mt St Helen’s erupted, my brother biked down to get me at her house, and we rode home trying not to breathe the ashy air. Becky often had a knowing smile, sometimes with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. You are gone too soon my friend. I hope you are reunited with your family who has passed before you and with your loving kitties from over the years.
I took care of Becky at Davita Dialysis for a few months and she always had a smile on her face no matter what was going on. She would always introduce me to her monkey that she would bring with her and I would always help her get set up and sit and talk with her. She will be very much missed especially her laugh and her concern for others even though she had a lot going on. I look forward to seeing her again one day. Love you Becky!!
Becky and I attended school from elementary through graduation. We often ran into each other throughout the years post graduation and it was great catching up. She was a wonderful person and I loved chatting with her. She will be missed and I’m so sorry for your loss.
Becky was a friend during our years at Hanford Middle and Highschool. We weren’t close, but often chatted between classes. I will always remember her strong quiet spirit and our conversations over shared love of animals and nature. I’m sorry to hear of her passing. I’ll be praying for comfort and peace for her friends and family.
