From Richland, WA
Branden “Lucifer” Walley
Branden “Lucifer/Luci” Kent Walley was an extraordinary young man with a bright future
and a caring heart. His enthusiasm was exceeded only by his love and concern for
others, especially human rights.
Lucifer was born at Providence St. Mary Hospital in Walla Walla, WA, on July 13, 2003,
to Stacie and Rory Walley. Throughout his younger years, Branden moved several
times due to his father’s career in the military. In November 2020, Branden moved to
Richland, WA, to live with his maternal aunt, Laura Fowler, where he was able to grow into the man he became. He became a man who didn’t’ just
inhabit the world – he lived to change it. He became involved with the Tri-Cities for
Palestine movement and always made sure to attend every rally and protest that he
could. Earlier this year, Lucifer/Luci made the trip to the state capital to speak on behalf
of the Palestinian people. He possessed a rare, unwavering courage to speak up for
social equality, standing firmly for what was fair. Beyond his activism and intellect,
Lucifer/Luci was a man of deep sincerity and warmth. He spoke with a devotion that
drew people to him spontaneously. He was uniquely respectful, sensitive, and always
truthful.
The loss of Lucifer is paramount, and the silence he leaves behind is heavy. However,
his spirit remains in every protest for justice, every academic pursuit, and every
conversation fueled by passion and truth. His soul continues to walk alongside his
family and the many friends who were lucky enough to call him a brother in the fight for
a better world.
He leaves behind his parents, Stacie Walley of Kalispell, MT; Rory Walley, Tulum,
Mexico; grandparents Gayle and Mary Fowler of College Place, WA; grandmother,
Sherri Walley of College Place, WA; aunt, Laura Fowler of Richland, WA; brother,
Benjamin Walley of College Place, WA; sisters Theo and Isabella Walley of Kalispell,
MT; half-sisters: Sierra Walley of Gig Harbor, WA; Sydni Smith of Red Rock, TX;
Julianna Delisle of Star, ID

Oh, my baby boy! Never a minute goes by that I don’t think of you. I always made sure to tell you that I love you. I am so proud that you stood up for others and were so compassionate about everything that interested you. You lived your life with such passion, I can only hope to carry that on in your memory. No amount of words can be used to describe how I feel. I can only wish to be half the person you are. I will continue your fight.
I can’t wait to see you in heaven and ask you, “What’s up?” and have you answer, “The ceiling.”
Fly high, my boy! I love you and will miss you forever!
I had chosen Winnie-the-Pooh for his nursery when he was born, so that’s why I chose this quote:
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” by A.A. Milne
