Edmond Francis Charette Jr.

Edmond Francis Charette, Jr., of Richland, Washington, formerly of Playa Del Rey, California, passed away April 17, 2026.  He was born March 8, 1937, in Schenectady, New York, to Edmond F. Charette and Mary (Emerich) Charette.  He was baptized at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

When he was ten years old, Ed’s family moved to Richland, Washington, where his father was employed by General Electric Co.  Ed graduated from Columbia High School (now Richland High) in 1955.  He attended Gonzaga University, graduating in 1959 with a degree in accounting.  After college he spent six months of Active-Duty Training in the National Guard and an additional 5 ½ years in the Army Reserve.  He went to work for Peter Kiewit Co. in the Aleutian Chain of Alaska for two years before moving to southern California.

While in California, he worked for Gladding McBean Co. and then the Encoder Division of Litton Industries in Chatsworth, California.  He worked at Litton until 1990.  When Encoder moved to Philadelphia, he opted to stay in sunny southern California.   Ed was an avid fan of the Dodgers, University of Southern California Trojans football team, and horseracing.  He also enjoyed golfing and golf trips with friends and colleagues.  True to his alma mater, he was a huge fan of the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team.

Ed was an active member of St. Anastasia parish in Playa del Rey.  He served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and trainer of altar servers.

While in California, Ed enjoyed entertaining family members who came to visit.  He showed them the sites and spent time at the beach and in fine restaurants.  In 2019 Ed relocated to The Tri Cities, Washington, to be closer to family.

Ed was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Marilyn Charette, SP.  He is survived by brothers Richard (Charlene) Charette and Paul (Kate Snyder) Charette and sisters Yvonne (Maynard) Plahuta, Catherine (Bob) Carbaugh, and Margaret (Henry) Koner.

Donations in Ed’s memory can be made to “Catholic Family and Child Services” or a charity of your choice.
