Draft Obituary
Judith “Judy” Goldberg, age 89, of Richland, Washington, passed away on April 3, 2026.
Judith was born on July 13, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a resident of Richland for over 50 years, where she built a life rooted in family, professional dedication, and lasting friendships.
Judith worked in accounting, auditing, and office management, including service with the Benton County Treasurer’s Office. Throughout her career, she supported several employers in the Hanford area and was known for her reliability, intelligence, and strong work ethic.
Growing up, Judith loved sports, especially basketball, fast-pitch softball, and tennis. As an adult, she carried a deep love of travel and history. She was fortunate to explore much of the world, including Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and the Mediterranean.
One of Judith’s greatest joys was her family. She was immensely proud of becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother, proudly embracing her role as “Gigi.”
Judith was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. She loved playing games with family and friends and was a fierce competitor, especially when watching Jeopardy! She also enjoyed British television shows and intellectual pursuits that kept her curious and engaged throughout her life.
In 1984, Judith met Edward Goldberg, who became the love of her life. They married in 1988 and shared twenty-three remarkable years together until his passing in 2012.
Judith is survived by her sister, Nancy Culbertson; her five children, Kathleen Carie (Steve), Michael Sean McCarthy, Ellen Goldberg (Seth), Larry Goldberg (Jan), and Glenn Goldberg (Tracy); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews and an incredibly exceptional group of dear friends from the “Farkle Four” including Don and Char Paddock and Sandy Steele, whose love and friendship meant so much to her and her family.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy; the love of her life, Edward Goldberg; and her best friend, Betty Hamblin.
In lieu of formal services, Judith’s family, and close friends will hold a private celebration of life via Zoom to accommodate those near and far.
Donations in Judith’s memory may be made to Heartlinks Hospice Care, the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
