Pran Nath Malhan
ran Nath Malhan was born August 11, 1932 in Harchowal, Punjab
to parents Chanan Mal Malhan and Harjaswati Malhan. He
married the light of his life, late Ram Kumari Malhan, and
together they created a beautiful life with their four children.
In 1979, he courageously immigrated to the United States,
settling in Richland, Washington in pursuit of a greater future
for his family. He worked as a civil engineer at the Hanford
nuclear power plant, a role he carried out with dedication and
pride. His commitment to hard work left a lasting impression –
one that both of his sons would follow proudly in his footsteps.
Pran was known for his discipline, structure, and strong values
which carried him through life. Beyond that, he found joy in the
simple things in life: McDonalds apple pies, Walkers cookies,
playing rummy, going for long walks, and capturing photos and
framing them, to name a few.
He was not only a devoted husband, but also a source of love to
his four children, nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren, who will proudly carry on his legacy. He made his
Sunday phone calls religiously to each one of them. If you
unfortunately missed the call, you were left a voicemail… “Hello,
this is your dad/grandpa. Call me back. I love you, love you, love
you”. His two daughter-in-laws, his beloved caretakers, were
often reminded of his adoration of them and their unbreakable
bond.
He was a pillar of his community and a steady presence for
those around him. Many friends of the family regarded him as a
father figure as he was highly respected by all. Through his
family members present today, as well as many friends and
loved ones, each person is a testament to the love he cultivated
throughout his life.
