Tod D. Gustafson
Tod Daniel Gustafson, age 63, of Pullman, Washington, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born on June 16, 1961, in Tacoma, Washington, Tod was the beloved son of Leonard Gustafson and Norma Daniels, both of whom preceded him in death.
Tod lived his life with a huge heart and an open spirit. As he grew older, he made several close friends to which he connected. Known affectionately as “Squatch,” a nickname inspired by his size, red hair, and beard, Tod embraced the name wholeheartedly. It became a symbol of the warmth, humor, and presence he brought into every room.
A gifted artist from an early age, Tod expressed himself through creativity in many forms. His passion for art eventually led him to a career as a tattoo artist, a profession that allowed him to share his talent, imagination, and gentle nature with countless people. His work was more than ink on skin—it was connection, expression, and care.
Despite his imposing appearance, Tod had a tender love for animals, especially cats. Those who knew him well often smiled at the sight of this big-hearted man doting on his feline companions, holding them close and spoiling them with affection.
Tod also enjoyed music, fishing and Harley Davison motorcycles. He got his first motorcycle at the age of 12, a blue Suzuki 125, which opened the door to his love for Harley’s.
In his early adulthood, Tod served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. His time in the Marines was cut short due to a severe elbow injury, although short, his time in the Marines was a good experience for him.
Tod is survived by his sister, Lori Saueressig, and her husband, David. In addition, he is survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
No celebration of life is planned at this time.
Tod will be remembered for his creativity, his kindness, his humor, and the unmistakable presence that earned him the name “Squatch.” His absence leaves a quiet space in the lives of those who loved him, but his spirit—big, warm, and unforgettable—will remain.
Tod the one and only Squatch. My friend since we were 4 years old living on Wright Street, through the years at Hanford School 5th-12th. Your kindness and generosity was unmatched, always looking out for someone else. May you rest in peace.
Tod was a member of our congregation when I served as bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
He was always pleasant and sweet and welcomed me with a big “hello bishop” when he saw me. I have good memories of a kind hearted man.
Rest in peace Tod.
Tod and I, with our fathers, made many a motorcycle ride in the Teton Mountains to go fish some alpine lakes.
He and I held many a long phone conversation over the years. Cousin know you will be missed. I have a lot of found memories that will keep me intertained! God Speed my friend!
