Bud Lavon Clement
Bud LaVon Clement, 100, of Richland, Washington, passed away on May 3, 2026, at Bonaventure in Richland. He was born December 5, 1925, in Fairview, Utah.
Bud was raised in Utah, where he spent his early years as a farm boy, developing a lifelong love for the outdoors and working with horses. At age 15, he moved to Taylorsville, Utah. At 17, he joined the Merchant Marines, serving during World War II until the conclusion of the war. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
In June 1946, Bud married his first wife, Elizabeth “Joy.” Together they moved to Richland, Washington, where they built their home and raised five children. Richland remained his home for over 80 years. Bud worked as a power operator and supervisor with Hanford contractors, providing faithfully for his family throughout his career.
Bud had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed these pursuits for over 50 years. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and found great joy in mentoring youth. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including temple service in both the Seattle and Richland temples.
Family was central to Bud’s life. He treasured family gatherings at home and in the mountains and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life experiences with his children and extended family. Alongside his wife Joy, he also served a church mission, helping remodel homes for farm workers in Greeley, Colorado. He was known for his generosity, including supporting his church and community.
Bud loved working with his hands, remodeling homes, and spending time in his shop. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife.
After the passing of his wife, Joy, Bud later married Maxine Larae Parenzin on April 10, 2018.
Bud is survived by his wife, Maxine Larae Clement; his children, LaVon (Kathie) Clement, Connie (Kent) Goodey, Terry (Sharon) Clement, Jay (Lisa) Clement, and Virginia Holman; 26 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Joy” Clement, and a grandson, Aaron Clement.
Funeral services will be held on May 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 1720 Thayer Drive, Richland, Washington. A viewing will take place prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m.
