Dennis Robert McGrath Sr.
Dennis Robert McGrath Sr., 80, of West Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1945, in Long Beach, California.
Dennis was proud of his career as a District Ranger with the U.S. Forest Service, where his love for the outdoors and dedication to the land were reflected in the work he did. He carried that same appreciation for nature throughout his life and especially enjoyed hunting.
An adventurer at heart, Dennis earned his private pilot’s license and found great joy flying his beloved Cessna and Navion. He was a gifted mechanic and craftsman with a passion for restoring classic machines, rebuilding countless muscle cars and vintage motorcycles over the years. Whether it had wings, wheels, or two tires, Dennis loved it.
Above all, Dennis loved his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine Marie Smith and Denise Betty McGrath and her significant other, Jason Holloway; his sons, Dennis Robert McGrath Jr. and Matthew Howard McGrath and his special friend, Tanya McGrath.
He was a proud grandfather to Pamela, Cameron, Brian, Evan, Emily, Tristen, Ian, Colin, Dennis, Shane, Jeremy, Audrey, and Nyxon, and a loving great-grandfather to Andrew and Adler.
He also had a deep love for animals. Though many beloved pets came and went throughout his life, his faithful dog, Addi Marlene, remained a cherished companion.
Dennis is also survived by his dear friends Fred Seavers, Todd Bailey, Shelby McComas, Sundae Stone, and Doug Stockwell.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda McGrath; his parents, Howard and Betty McGrath; his brother, Michael McGrath; two of his best friends, Frank Myer and Edwin Gillis; and several other beloved family members and friends.
Dennis will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of flying, restoring classic cars and vintage motorcycles, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family. His stories, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, WA 99352.
A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow in the chapel. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Dennis’ life together.
